From the same address in Chicago's River North neighborhood, Axelrod operates a second business, ASK Public Strategies, that discreetly plots strategy and advertising campaigns for corporate clients to tilt public opinion their way. He and his partners consider virtually everything about ASK to be top secret, from its client roster and revenue to even the number of its employees. But customers and public records confirm that it has quarterbacked campaigns for the Chicago Children's Museum, ComEd, Cablevision, and AT&T.

ASK's predilection for operating in the shadows shows up in its work. On behalf of ComEd and Comcast, the firm helped set up front organizations that were listed as sponsors of public-issue ads. Industry insiders call such practices "Astroturfing," a reference to manufacturing grassroots support. Alderman Brendan Reilly of the 42nd Ward, who has been battling the Children's Museum's relocation plans, describes ASK as "the gold standard in Astroturf organizing. This is an emerging industry, and ASK has made a name for itself in shaping public opinion and manufacturing public support."

This whole thing needs to be condensed.

Its not in the facts themselves, but in the way the facts are presented. In a race, if you are told you came in 2nd to last place, you think you've lost. Omit the part there were two people in the race and you can conclude what really happened, 2nd to last place IS first place, in a two person race.

I would also like to see this video updated with current information.

We need more people to join the John Birch Society (http://www.jbs.org/) to help them produce more hard hitting materials.

General Electric right now is astroturfing hard on the digitalization of medical records. They have all these bright, lively, folksy-music commercials running now about how they're going to interconnect everything with this cute kids and happy-faced doctors.

Golly Gee, General Electric just wants strawberries and cream for all.

No matter how good some of their intentions are, they fail to look at consequences.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions.

And I am not against improving healthcare, but for my 27 year existence I've had NO problems with my paper records, or my insurance. I'll pay the extra $100 year to keep it that way (they keep saying "This will save us money!").
