Fellow Patriots,

On Tuesday April 7th, Washington State Representative Adam Smith (CD9) publicly committed to becoming a cosponsor of HR 1207, a resolution before the House of Representatives demanding a one-time audit of the Federal Reserve.

Thurston County resident, "BP" (name changed for privacy), capped off a concerted effort by many CD9 Campaign for Liberty members and allies to gain Congressman Smith's support for the bill by engaging him on the issue at a series of town hall meetings. Congressman Smith is doing a series of five of these meetings, the first held this past winter and the last being held in August. Tuesday's meeting was the third such meeting.

Campaign for Liberty members began the process by bringing up the issue of auditing the Federal Reserve at the first meeting. At the second, C4L members actually presented Congressman Smith with a copy of HR 1207 and secured a commitment from him to read the bill and consider it. On Tuesday, BP brought up the issue in reference to a related comment Congressman Smith made.

BP then questioned Smith as to why he had not yet cosponsored the bill. Smith responded that he thought it was "a great idea to audit the Federal Reserve", and would support the bill. Next, Smith stated that he was actually already a cosponsor of the bill. BP and others began to correct him on this point, and Smith's reaction was one of confusion. The congressman stated that if he was not already cosponsor, he didn't know why and would in fact agree to cosponsor HR 1207!

Several times throughout the meeting, Congressman Smith was commended for his courage on the issue by constituents, some C4L members, others not. Also, whenever the Federal Reserve's policies were mentioned, Smith affirmed his commitment to cosponsor the bill to audit the Fed. As he is the first of Washington State's delegation to the House of Representatives to take a stand on the issue, he should be commended for his leadership on this matter, as well as for his willingness to listen to his constituents and respond with decisive action.

Now you must do you part in continuing the fight to put the Fed under the microscope by taking in action in three ways:

1) Email and/or call Congressman Smith's office and thank him for leading the Washington's representatives on this issue and ask him to officially become a cosponsor of HR 1207 immediately, and then persuade Washington's eight other representatives to also become cosponsors.

2) Call your representative and demand they understand the issue and join Congressman Smith in his support of this good-government measure.

3) Join your representative's email list and to find out where and when you can discuss the Federal Reserve and ask for his support in person.

Thank for your tireless efforts in the fight for freedom!

In Liberty,

P Chamberlain
