Some of the early socialist intellectuals such as HG Wells purported a form of eugenics thorough selected breeding. The theory was a bit like the breed racehorses. The idea was evolve the human race into a more perfect being oh a bit like the Nazis & the whole Aryan Race theory. Never forget Nazis were socialists as in National Socialism.
It should be remembered that championing social justice for the downtrodden was what socialism was about when it first evolved in the 19th century. It also should be remembered that Marx said the workers should own the means of production not the state. True Marxism is non state socialism sometimes referred to as Libertarian Socialism but better known as Anarchism. Now socialism can work small scale where there is voluntary cooperation such as communes, cooperatives, mutual communities. Such things based upon voluntary mutual cooperation are a good thing & should be applauded. The problem is your modern young socialist isn’t interested in mutual cooperation or interested in championing social justice for the downtrodden. No the reason their a socialist is because they’ve got a gripe about the guy down the street having a bigger widescreen TV then them.
These days young socialists don’t tend call themselves socialists more often then not they call themselves anarchists…socialist isn’t a trendy enough label. Typically they’re middle class, adolescent of mind (even if their in their 30s), think they’re entitled to blah, blah, blah because the guy down the street has blah, blah, blah. But what they don’t realize is that the guy down the street has gone out & earned blah, blah, blah. They refuse to learn nobody’s entitled to shit that they have to earn things, they’d rather daydream & propagate that they’re going to create a utopia where nobody will want for anything. Anybody who propagates utopia needs psychiatric help.
Both political & religious utopian operates on the same basis lifelong enslaved obedience to dogma & utopia will be achieved. Yes well one man’s utopia is another man’s hell but as it goes there is no such thing as utopia just realism. So it’s a waste of time daydreaming & screaming about utopia religious or political.
Of course much of what has been explored here is what could be described as the modern mutation of anarcho-socialist-narcissist which many anarchists & socialists will protest that isn’t proper socialism or anarchism. Well socialists & anarchists always seem to be the ones are least helpful & giving towards those in need & seem to think those in need should be cared for by the government…kind of ironic coming from anarchists. If they’re the ones who care so much about those in need why aren’t they the ones actually doing more to help them? The reason is that its used as a front for their own narcissistic grievance.
You still do get hardcore socialists who say the revolution was never fulfilled…no shit! Time & time again it has been proven that state socialism doesn’t work…so why the fuck would we want to try it again?
