Treason, how many people were there?

20ish, it was basically to the "Kentucky Federation of College Republicans" local chapter at WKU campus, their "monthly" meeting I think, maybe weekly.

Working on part 2. Some real good questions at the end concerning foreign policy, and other things.

Below is a written approximation of his remarks.

The Future of the GOP

Why am I a republican? Why should you be a republican? And what does it mean to be a republican?

A political party doesn't have any value unless it means something; unless it fills some message. A fast majority of republicans say they are conservative, but what does that mean?

Barry Goldwater wrote, "I have little interest in streamlining government or making it more efficient, for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom.... And if I should later be attacked for neglecting my constituents "interest," I shall reply that I was informed that their main interest is liberty and that in that cause I am doing the very best I can."

We feel like the constitution should be a guide to what government does in Washington. Is there anything in the constitution about the government buying private banks, and holding stocks in banks? The republican platform specifically states we don't believe in bailing out failed businesses, so, we have republicans going against what we believe. If our elected leaders don't adhere to our republican platform, in the end we lose our credibility.

We have to self examine if we are going to get bigger or grow. We have to get beyond the hypocrisy of the past eight years, and we have to forge something new. It's going to take new young people in the party who want the party to get bigger; we also have to have believability.

Kentucky Taxpayers United is a non-partisan group that monitors the state legislature.

* Rand Paul is an eye surgeon from Bowling Green and has been mentioned as a possible candidate for the US Senate should Jim Bunning retire.

Rand has some competition if he's going to run (which sounds like he will whenever Bunning decides not to run). I think what Rand will need to do is put his party rivals in the same boat as the Republicans that lost in the midterm and recent elections, and that they need a fresh face not tied to any politics that embraces the same principles that once made their party great.

But then again, I don't know how Kentucky rolls these days on the political spectrum.

Rand has some competition if he's going to run (which sounds like he will whenever Bunning decides not to run). Yes but Rand also has a national grassroots funding base and organization ;):D

i dont mean to sound disrespectful but a $20 haircut would do Rand miracles. i personally dont go after hair or looks but i read about how clinton got elected and his haircut helped. i think Rand is as principled as his father but looks do matter for the sheeple
