View Full Version : Does the tax code screw single men?

I notice that tax brackets are halved by marriage despite the fact women earn much less than men. Further men pay more into social security while women live longer and thus get greater benefits. A single guy who buys a house also pays the same property tax on it than if he had an entire family of children he was sending to school and a wife living there.

Women live longer and thus draw more SS.

The drone male ant is nourished and protected by enslaved working and soldiering female ants. He basically does nothing during his life, saving all his energy for when the females will escort him outside to take flight along with other male drones and queen ants where, together, they might mate to create new nests elsewhere.
Because this is the ideal male life, men really don't need any money. Corruption takes place when he demands both the power and the money. So, let's get with the women and create a new social contract. We get all the power and they get all the money just so long as we get to do all the playing and they do all the working.

I don't see why everyone can't file [individually] under the same bracket system. The tax filing status is probably the government's way of subsidizing marriage.

SIngle people in general take a hit in a number of government controlled areas, take Milk as an example. When a family purchases Milk they can purchase two gallons and get a discounted rate over those that purchase just one. Then a single person might only be able to use a half gallon before it goes bad. On a side note those new screw on tops make Milk last longer on the half gallon containers. Here locally one gallon goes for $2.99 and two cost $4.99. Then don't get me started on the super size stores like Costco where the benefits go to people capable of storing larger quantities of merchandise.

Then how does a single person benefit from the public education once theirs was paid for by their parents?

The government school advocates would argue that an "educated" society benefits everyone. This looks nice on paper and makes people feel good about themselves, but in practice it only grows the state at the expense of the individual. /end rant

I had a friend come over to use my internet last week. He wanted to do his taxes. He did it turbo tax. He is self-employed and only made 15k last year. They want him to pay $2,500!

He is taking it to HandR block to get it check out. But it looks like he will have to freaking pay! HE ONLY MADE 15K! WTF?!

Apparently we have a need for unskilled manual labor types to do a variety of jobs in this country, currently those same Government types import illegal labour to fill these positions. No need if we have enough unskilled types here in America.

You know those jobs Americans won't do?

You should see my tax burden, owning my own owner-operator business I get hammered, with little coming back in return. I figure at .70 cents per gallon taxation on fuel I pay at least $500.00 per month on that alone. 500X12=6,000. Then the rest has to be done by the CPA(another tax) because it's insane the way everything is set up, making our lives more complicated.

I thought we needed government to make our lives easier?

A tax on the peoples wages, salaries tips and commissions is NOT an income tax. City of New Orkeans vs Scramuzza. It appeats that some folks here just don't get it.

Self-employed people have to pay both shares of the payroll taxes.. 15.3%, that's $2300 right there. If he goes to H&R, he'll learn the same thing about be a few hundred poorer.

No, that is an income tax. Just most people are not liable for it.
