I took a Director-at-large position and Matt Collins took vice chair. a few other of our guys took some other positions.

big win and congrats to all our C4L and Ron Paulers who stepped up over a few month process and made it happen.

Busy right now but there will be more specific updates shortly!

Ron Paul would be very proud.

We can take the Republican back piece by piece by being elected to the central committees.

Wasn't he running for Chairman? Nevertheless, great job!

Congrats to all... I will be the first to raise a toast and hope that it is just the beginning of a tidal wave of revolutionary change all across this land. Let freedom ring!

That comes at the State Conventions. Between now and then we need to be rustling up volunteers for the State Party Central Committees and the at large State Party Executive Committees.

Wasn't he running for Chairman? Nevertheless, great job!

Vice Chair of a County is nothing to sneeze at when starting from ground zero. I was initially looking to run for 2nd District Chairman; but after much consulting with our local Ron Paulers I chose to take the gimme County Vice Chair rather then the who-knows 2nd District Chair.

this route will give me more political capitol in the future, and most importantly - OUR EFFORTS DO NOT END IN 2009.

So maybe I'll step up in 2011 to County Chair or District Chair. In the interim I will be on a mad fling to recruit hard-core principled Constitutionalists to activism in the Franklin County GOP. Then when I step up to 2nd District, I will recruit hard-core principled Constitutionalists to activism throughout the 2nd District.

Working together as a group throughout NC, the C4Lers and Paulers will be able to flood the State GOP with Constitutionalists. Once THAT is accomplished (expecting minor gains for our platform in public office in 2010) I expect major gainst for our platform in NC in 2012. I mean major, mind-blowing gains for Constitutionalism in 2012.

Congrats to the Davidson Co folks! I know Matt was shooting for Chair, but as Gunny says, Vice chair is nothing to sneeze at. We are all learning as we go and we will prevail.

Is it better to run for republican or libertarian in NC?

in NC, as far as I know, no Libertarian has ever won anything. It might take 2-4 years of active involvement with the GOP before you can run for office with any kind of political capitol, while you could run for office as a Libertarian right away. But Libertarians never really take but at most 2-4% in NC in any election.

Quotiing:

Governor
100 of 100 counties Reporting
Percent Votes
Michael Munger-L 2.87% 121,229
Bev Perdue-D 50.22% 2,120,968
Pat McCrory-R 46.90% 1,980,768

You know by now that Dr. Munger will not be the next governor of North Carolina. It was never realistic to think he might be. The campaign did achieve its two most important goals:

Legal Status
By exceeding 2% of the vote total, Dr. Munger put the Libertarian Party in position to support its candidates, rather than spending its resources regaining ballot status.
Visibility
Dr. Munger's voter appeal earned him three invitations to televised debates. That, and his excellent performance in those debates brought thousands of new voters his way. Many of them will remember him in 2012 and many also were introduced to libertarian ideas and the Libertarian Party.
All this presents Libertarians with opportunity and challenge. Opportunity, because we can and will devote our energy and our resources to supporting our candidates. Challenge, because we will not have the excuse of the ballot access fight to fall back on, if we aren't able to grow our party, our out reach, and our vote totals by 2010.

And speaking of 2010, Dr. Munger has announced that he plans to run for NC state senate in 2010 and he's running to win!
