I just got back from a long day of Ron Paul events.
Went to the VIP cokctail party and was able to speak with the good Dr. for a bit. He's fantastic! Very gracious and approachable. I loved talking with him.
We had several people at the Values Voters debate as deligates.
The rest of us were at a nearby restaraunt listening to the debate on the sound system.
After the debate Ron Paul and several members of the campaign came to the restaraunt for a rally. We had at least a few hundred people there. Dr. Paul gave a very inspiring speach and the crowd went nuts. MANY cheers!
We were told that he came in 2nd in the straw poll!! We couldn't believe it - it was a tuff crowd and he won many of them over!
This was his strongest debate. He was amazing! It helped alot that the debate forum was very fair and balanced. Each candidate got equal time and they were allowed a closing argument. Dr. Paul shocked me with his fantastic closing speach.
I knew he was cooking up a good speech during the "speed" round, haha. He didn't waste any of those 2 minutes and did well. That crowd was indeed VERY tough, but I am shocked that he got 2nd! Huckabee had a huge lead, however -- not sure how that happened.
But ya, good stuff. Get any pictures or video? :)

The more I think about it the more I am very very happy with the second place finish. He placed ahead of Brownback who is basing his campaign on family values. Brownback should drop, so should Tancredo and Hunter.

Brownback is on my last good nerve. If I have to hear how he is going to impose his view of marriage and family on the rest of us one more time, I'm going to hurl.

Tancredo has not registered to be on the ballot in West Virginia, and the deadline is past. I can only assume he is not long for this race. Hunter still has some fight in him, coming off his success at the Texas straw poll. Brownback has a core of supporters. He may drop out if Huckabee takes any more of them away, which so far Huckabee has been doing quite effectively.

Cox is insignifigant anyways. Keyes just joined, so...
In addition to all those, I'm of the opinion that McCain probably ought throw in the towel at this point.

The "yes" and "no" question round is really a bad idea because it does not allow the people to know the reasoning behind an answer......Ideas are the key...and the religious right does not understand the TENTH article and how that relates to Federal powers as enumerated in the Constitution.....
These questions assume FALSELY that the Federal Gov. (at the executive level) could do anything which is ridiculous.
The very things that these folks would like to see (such as censorship) is EXACTLY what they are upset about HAPPENING TO THEM and they fail to understand that.

Which is why Paul should probably provide his reasoning behind the answers.

Yeah but he only had two chances to do so. It's kind of bollocks if you ask me. Personally, I liked that he wasn't herd like and stood apart from the other candidates somewhat. Although, I do think people will look at face value and wonder "Ron Paul doesn't care about slavery!" The "speed round" was the weakest round of the debate IMO. A lot of similar questions were asked too...

I meant that he should explain his reasoning after the fact.

He did. He talked over and over about individual liberty, don't sacrifice liberties, government shouldn't use force to spread values, etc. etc. He addressed all of his votes in the 3rd round when they asked him about his libertarian views. Maybe you missed that round.

I didn't, but I'm sure that's not what his detractors will say when they analyze his votes in the second round, which is why Paul should take the time to explain his reasoning behind those second round votes. Not in the debate but on his website.

McCain can't throw in the towel. His whole campaign now is, NO SURRENDER!
McCain doesn't want to "surrender" in Iraq, and he probably thinks the Confederate States shouldn't have surrendered in the Civil War either!

These are church people, the ones who want to force their views on everybody else. Huckabee fits right into this, he's one of them. So, I'm not surprised he won, heck he had it won before it started.
Those yes/no series was just weird. Those were NOT yes/no questions, and you couldn't qualify your answer?
Here's a yes/no question I'd like to see: Would you willingly sacrifice your child's life for the cause in Iraq? Yes or No C'mon! Ask them all this question.
I thought what they did with the missing candidates was cool, I liked that. They were obviously very offended.

Exactly! But, the Ron Paul supporters got kinda quiet towards the end. I wonder if they got those Satanic glares from the rapture cultists.

Brownback: "The government needs to rebuild the family."
The same government that can't rebuild New Orleans or Iraq?
Senator, you've been disqualified.
