A message from RJ Harris:

My friends,

By now most of you know that I am running for Oklahoma’s 4th District Congressional Seat against incumbent Republican and Bailout voter, Tom Cole. Because I am committed to representing all of you as opposed to representing lobbyists and corporate entities, I will not solicit donations from either of those groups. This means that for us to win all of you have to be willing to vote with your donations—now—well before the primary ever arrives.

We have been approached recently, by a nationally recognized media personality, with an offer to spotlight this campaign on his nationally syndicated news and comment program as well as several accompanying web sites and other media marketing outlets. This advertising campaign requires substantial financial support and we have an immediate need to raise $25,000 to get this done. This exposure could catapult this campaign and the principled arguments we are making into the national spotlight. However, nothing worth doing is free and the media outlets have bills to pay as well. So please, go to www.rjharris2010.com/donate.asp and make the most generous contribution you can, even if it is only one dollar.

Remember, if we don’t replace representatives who vote for socialism, then we have given our consent to the loss of our freedom. My friends do not consent to slavery! Stand up to it right now and help Liberty win in 2010!

FOR LIBERTY!
RJ Harris
US Congressional Candidate, OK’s 4th District.

I read an op-ed piece by RJ Harris on the Front page of the Daily Paul. all I can say is wow
Im about to make a specific thread about his piece

Today our President saw fit to fire the CEO of a major publicly traded U.S. corporation. Such power usually resides only in the hands of a company’s stockholders or a fascist government. And what of GM’s stockholders, have they no say in who will run their company?

The President believes that he has this power because GM accepted our bailout money. But then again so has the State of Oklahoma…are we to be next? Has your state accepted the Federal Government's bailout money as well? When our Governors or legislatures refuses to toe- the-line of the President’s plans are they to be so easily “asked” to step down as well?

Kludgebot summarizes:

Pro-life, less when mother's life is in danger (I had trouble figuring out his position on banning abortion on the federal level. I can only guess he supports it),
conservative-libertarian (not quite a minarchist),
non-interventionist (not an isolationist),
Theist (Protestant, likely),
Against closed borders, but position on immigration control is unclear,
Originalist
Against the War on Drugs on (at least) the federal level
Positions on social issues are very unclear, but it is clear that he wants the federal government out of states' affairs, and, after all, he is running for a federal office.

I'll try and clear these area's up:

*Pro-life: RJ is in agreement with Ron Paul's position.
*Conservative-Libertarian: Correct
*Non-Interventionist: Correct
*Theist (not sure why the religion of a federal candidate matters but his Facebook has him listed as a Deist/Gnostic Christian if you must know)
*Borders: his position is quite clear:

http://rjharris2010.com/issues.asp?issue=immigration

Our border should be immediately secured by the US Army and Militia and all illegal aliens should be returned to their country of origin. Defending our border is a legitimate reason to raise and support an Army.

Once these “first response” tasks are under way, then we should begin a comprehensive reform of our immigration policy wherein legal immigrants are recruited by the various States that need their labor. There should be no such thing as “guest worker” programs. All immigrants should bring their heritage, mix it with ours, and be required to follow the path to citizenship. Our culture is richer and more seasoned with each addition to our melting pot.

*Not sure if originalist is exactlly right, RJ believes that we have the Constitution that we have, and we should follow it. There is a method to change the constitution if we wish.
*War on Drugs - correct, he is against the war on drugs at the federal level. The Federal Government has no constitutional authority to engage in this war on drugs.
*Social Issues:

http://rjharris2010.com/issues.asp?issue=civil

I am for an amendment which states that the Constitution is henceforth intended to apply to all citizens of the United States; regardless of race, gender, creed, or religion even if such was not the original intent of the Constitution's framers. We have come a long way since 1789. Since then we have knocked down racial and gender barriers that the framers simply accepted. It is time our Constitution reflected and codified this commitment to the equality of the body politic.

^^ That should also shed some light on his "originalist" view on the constitution as well.

"path to citizenship" is what I took issue with. Does he intend to change the "path to citizenship"? Immigration quotas?
