I realize the mayor has a vested interest in seeing GM do well, but he is delusional if he thinks that GM is going to become viable again.

yeah we need 10-15 years to turn GM around, meanwhile our debt increases as well as taxes and inflation. Lets just sit back and wait for GM and all the other companies to create the next scam.

You know what really pisses me off? Now you have GM and Ford offering to forgo repossession for up to 12 months for people who have lost their jobs. Of course this is not going to be retroactive and of course they will be using tax payer money to subsidize their balance sheets while people roll around in brand new cars.

It makes me sick because I worked my ass off for two years paying for a Ford and I lost my job in '07 and was unable to repay my loan. I was only 90 days past due and as soon as I turned over my keys, I landed a new job. I have since lost that job as well, but still point is, the people that needed this kind of help need it YEARS ago.

Instead of the car companies working with the buyers who were starting to default, they happily repo'ed the cars to resell them. They papered over the losses and now are stiffing the tax payers for it.

Its getting pretty damn ridiculous. Prices for everything need to drop about 50-75% before this economy ever hopes to recover. My credit is screwed and I have learned a hard lesson about financing. It just sucks that even tho I lost the ride, I will still be stuck paying for the bad paper one way or another.

That was too short...

Paul could've dissected that Mayor's perspective very easily.

We need our C4L groups to start putting pressure on big-city mayors.

Schiff has debated this mayor before:

I thought Paul had as well, but cannot find the clip.

They can dump all the money in the world into GM and let the government become the board of directors, but the Asian manufacturers are still going to stomp them into dust.

Thanks Chubbs!

RP was great as usual. That mayor seemed more like a salesman than a mayor.

In fact, doing all of that will just ensure that the opposition stomps them into the dust. The money will remove the need for GM to do better and the government will just put cronies and other stooges in all the top jobs. Recipe for failure.

I dont care how "lean and green" Detroit tries to become, their cars are still inferior to their foreign competitiors.
