From some other forums I go to, in response to some guy who doesn't like his job and wants to look for a new one:

"The other thing I'd say (and this is coming from the point of view of someone who's just been put at risk of redundancy after spending 6 years in a company and job he loves, trying to make a career for himself) - is that given how many redundancies are being made right now and how many people NEED jobs - personally I think it's a bit on the selfish side to start looking at this point in time.

That sounds harsh, but the honest truth is there is not an abundance of jobs right now. Personally I think it's a little unfair on all those people who are struggling out there to make ends meet and find another job to throw yourself in to the arena and *potentially* take a job that could pull a family out of a very dire situation indeed."

These half wits think employers are here just to give everyone else jobs! As if they are our bitch and they shouldn't be allowed to seek what is best for them! Fuck I cannot take this anymore. Everything the government is doing is bad enough, but I simply CAN NOT STAND these snot nosed moochers who have no problem taxing me to death. It's only worse now that their socialist hero is in power and I have to listen to them go on and on about how they are going to make everything better as they rob the fuck out of me.

I hear ya. The theft is becoming so obvious and in the open, I really think they're trying to incite a revolt. A lot of people are getting really angry. A couple more years of this and people will be filling the streets of D.C. in protest . . . and then they can call in the U.N. troops . . .

Interesting times we live in!

no worries...i've already heard from some people i know say that unemployment benefits are going to soon pay well enough that folks will be reluctant to even look for new work...so unemployment numbers will increase very soon. hey, nowadays it pays to gets laid off!

Man don't even get me started on unemployment. I just went through a painful unemployed period, had to sell a bunch of music equipment to make rent and went quite awhile without power. That doesn't bother me at all because it is what I deserved, fair is fair, I did not apply for unemployment becuase I DO NOT STEAL. I might as well have gone and robbed houses to make rent because it is the same thing. What DOES bother me is I got through that tough time only to start my new job and listen to almost everyone there bitch and moan about how unemployment is too slow or unemployment doesn't pay enough, then to make it worse theres even people telling me how they are going to stay part time because they can keep getting unemployment. Fuck them all, they can starve to death for all I care.

They PAID into the system, They should get their unemployment insurance income. Now, if the government stops forcing me to pay into this system by gunpoint(yes, employer pays, so my potential income was stolen), then the whining can stop.

Maybe I'm totally misreading the OP, but it sounds to me like he's saying he has a job, is at risk of being laid off, and doesn't think it's right for him to start looking for a job now because there are others out there who really need a job.

How is that looting? I'd like to know because I've been doing that for almost a year now.

I'll get mad about welfare benefits when they start to come close to the cost of the bailouts.

The only thing worse than picking my pocket in the name of charity for the poor is picking my pocket in the name of charity to the rich.

hey, if you are close to being laid off, then by all means LOOK for something else. i was doing that for a year with no luck before i finally got laid off. and i am now drawing unemployment and compared to what i was making, it IS a joke...and no i dont feel bad for drawing it either. they took that money out of my check for years, so i think its only fair i get some of it back when i need it. its not like im stealing from anyone, because it came from my check. anyone who thinks drawing something that was taken from you is wrong, then by all means, sit there and starve. it doesnt last forever and anyone who has anything to them will get another job asap and get off unemployment anyway.

Sounds like something out of an Ayn Rand novel.
