I can already picture a new doc starting after the campaign and into the future of the movement. Focus on economic issues, how RP and the Austrians have been right all along while the Keynsians have been wrong and basically wrecked the economy, etc.

I have no idea what we will take on as a next project. Will definitely need a rest after this one is done.

Robert Greenwald produced a documentary called OutFoxed (http://www.outfoxed.org/) which was made entirely of Fox News footage and never got in trouble. Since this is a documentary that is "to educate the public" we should be covered under Fair Use laws. It's a massive gray area though. The US Code is here (http://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/17/107.shtml). In relation to the running time of the final film, network news clips will make up a very small percentage.

All our music will be cleared with contracts.

Good uses of expenditures of time and money is a judgment of the free market- those that wanted to contribute did- those that didn't- didn't. So this is the exact thing that our movement is about- free markets.

That said, I'm sure yours and Matt Colins postings kept some funds back as some reconsidered.

People were laughing at the blimp on some other forum over a year ago so I clicked the link to check it out and that was how I learned about Ron Paul. So yes it did work to some extent lol.

I looked into it, but it's pretty much a joke for small producers. You have to pay $thousands just to license the format. No replication houses will even press your disc without a license number from the BR consortium and pages of paperwork. People have been making a real stink about it though so they have pressure to cut the fees. As it is now, small producers are forced to stay on regular DVD because there are no fees associated with the format.

But we are planning ahead - mastering in 720p/24p so we'll have an HD final master for a possible BR in the future. For now we'll down convert to SD 16:9 and it will still look spectacular.

We're gonna have a bunch of bonus sections on the disc so we may have to press a double layer to hold all the data and still retain a high bit rate.

I can already picture a new doc starting after the campaign and into the future of the movement. Focus on economic issues, how RP and the Austrians have been right all along while the Keynsians have been wrong and basically wrecked the economy, etc.

I have no idea what we will take on as a next project. Will definitely need a rest after this one is done.

I think you should make a documentary about Austrian economics. If there was a documentary on Austrian economics would be used to get students interested into the subjects. Try getting an Austrian economic historian like Bob Murphy.

edit: David Gordon does a good job of accounting for political philosophy.

The movie should focus on WHAT is economics, WHO were the Austrian economists, and WHY is it important today.

This is one video I will NOT torrent or download. I will purchase it for sure. If others cannot afford it I am sure that people will sponsor others to get a copy legit. Maybe that can be something that tyhe do with the website... Like a Buy 1 and Sponsor 1 type thing.

I do not oppose selling the DVD traditionally, but this is an opportunity to show the world how artist can skip the middle man.

I just talked with the producer of a local cable access station and he indicated that they would be willing to flood the station with this documentary if given permission. If you guys are willing to let it be shown in this method than I will do what I can to get it worked out and will work on other cable access stations in my region.

We've been getting many emails from people inquiring about screenings of the documentary in movie theaters. While doing this big time on a national level would require a distribution deal with a studio (guaranteed this will not happen), that's not to say people couldn't pitch in and rent theaters in their area to show the film. We may even be able to provide 720p masters for HD projection. There will be no 35mm film print so the only way is to project as video.

If anyone is interested in doing this in their area, I would recommend calling around to theaters and getting their rental rates. Then assuming it would be a go, promote the dates locally in newspapers, etc and fill the house.

Doesn't matter if it was a good idea. We did it, and it's damn impressive.

Just because it didn't last a long time doesn't mean it wasn't worth it. Those that were interested donated and got what they paid for. I know they all wished it would have been more popular. But there is a legacy now of the footage of the thing flying with the RP banners. I think that the footage itself was worth it. It will be shown for years to come. In a sense, it will continue to promote Ron Paul and the freedom platform.

I'm trying to find the initial 6 minute render.. ~10gb, >HDx2, 16:9 as intended, the 4:3 youtubes prevented seeing half of the RP + Hubble deep scan imagery artwork. That was a 2gb psd environment map... Sadly, I think I suicided it. Seems I only have my video conversion experiment files left... but if you want, let me know and I bet I can find it in a backup drive image.
