Just sat through an excruciating hour of William Kristol on C-SPAN Washington Journal.

He's in favor of the stimulus and in favor of the forays into Afghanistan & Pakistan, a fan of nation-building, and 'compromise' on nationalized health-care.

He then goes on to say that he's optimistic about Republican and conservative chances in 2010 and 2012.

How dare he paint himself as conservative. How dare he.

If this joker is a conservative, then so are all the democrats.

If this guy helps to set the Republican agenda and message going forward, you can count me out.

If the Republican Party has any hope of remaining true to its principles, it needs to kick liberals-in-conservative-clothing like this guy to the curb.

Socialism is the new conservatism according to this dickhead... and i really don't use the word dickhead often... almost never.

Sorry for this useless post, i just can't stand Kristol

You say he said he's optimistic for conservative chances over the next couple of elections. Did he actually say he is one? He may have been fudging a bit on the 'optimistic' part. After all, we all know what he really wants is a big neocon comeback. If he's actually optimistic that he'll get it, he's too damned big a fool to worry about.

not during this interview as I recall, though I've always thought that's how he viewed himself based on all his media appearances, his rag, etc.

Bill Kristol is the son of the man who coined the term "neoconservative".

He is a PIG and most certainly not a conservative.

Right. He is NOT a conservative. He is a NEO-conservative. He's just trying to hijack the conservative platform and morph it into a neo-conservative one.

I agree, that's what he is, and what he's been doing and continues to do.

But, does anyone refer to themselves as a neo-conservative?

Would he?

Neocons don't care about social or economic policy...they're basically war mongering socialists. They know it too: From wikipedia: In 2003 [Irving] Kristol remarked that "one can say that the historical task and political purpose of neoconservatism would seem to be this: to convert the Republican party, and American conservatism in general, against their respective wills, into a new kind of conservative politics suitable to governing a modern democracy." [9] (http://www.weeklystandard.com/Utilities/printer_preview.asp?idArticle=3000&R=EDE9E6) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neoconservative_-_Paleoconservative_Conflict

Here's basically an expose on Bill Kristol that just makes me angry. I loathe Neocons they're such unapologetic hypocrites always grasping for power: http://www.vdare.com/epstein/080102_kristol.htm

This right here exposes Kristol as the neo-con that he is.

Kristol, in contrast, professed to be perplexed by why anyone would oppose illegal immigration. He asked "What damage have they done that's so great in 20 years?" and even dismissed concerns about the massive demonstrations with Mexican flags. He is openly hostile to opponents of amnesty, whom he called "yahoos" who will turn the GOP into an "anti-immigration, Know Nothing party." [Y is for Yahoo, April 10, 2006]

He asked "What damage have they done that's so great in 20 years?"

Um, Billy boy--if you weren't born with a silver spoon in your mouth you might know what it means to not be able to get even a minimum wage job because the people in power have allowed a new caste to be formed that's even lower than yours...

Kristol is the biggest joke ever. Not only did he promise a cakewalk in Iraq, he also "discovered" Sarah Palin. Hasn't this man down enough damage to the GOP?

Bill Kristol represent the cabal who took over the conservative movement. It is him and his associates, that we have to supplant, when we take back the GOP for liberty.

Well we also have to defeat the Big Federal Religion whackos that Kristol and his gang tricked into supporting their Israel First agenda.

Yep. They gave that name to themselves, and they are proud of it.

What I find funny is how some neo-cons think the term began as a flame against them by their political opposition. They don't even know how it was originated, though today it is considered more of a slam than a compliment.

I also love calling my democratic acquaintances neo-cons. It drives 'em up a wall. But I simply explain to them that they have more in common with the neo-cons than I do.
