has anyone thought about Ron Paul running for Governor of Texas with the platform of succeeding from the United Stated? Essentially it would get everything accomplished he wants no IRS, no FED, small government, sound money......Thoughts?

he's said in the past that he doesn't really want to do state politics

Paul was on C-Span sometime in 2008 and some caller asked him about running for governor and he said he's not really interested in state politics. He likes national issues like foreign policy and monetary policy.

If he seceded, it wouldn't be state politics anymore.

thats my point exactly if he ran on the platform of Texas succeeding as a state then he as governor would be setting Texas up as with sound money, and every other policy he stands for.... It would have no more state issues.

It's seceding, not succeeding, two different concepts.

Ron wants to save the union, not disband it.

I asked him straight up at a book signing and he said he was not really interested..

Ron understands that Americans can all have their chosen government (or lack of) at the local and state level.

The Federal government just needs to get out of the way.

We need a voice of reason in Congress.

Texas will not secede from the union. Texas receives a lot of government money. Especially through the Earmarking system (which is such a small fraction of our GDP that i really could care less about abuse until bigger issues are addressed). It will take A LOT more to convince texans that seceding is the right thing to do. Have a better chance with N and S Dakota as well as Wyoming.

Ron should move to Nevada and take over.

move to the state with some of the worst corporate corruption and control. What makes you think Ron would have a good chance with Nevada ? (or am i missing the sarcasm)

For the first time ever, a bill to audit to Fed is gaining traction, and people along with him are hitting Bernanke and Geinther hard. He wouldnt be able to do any of that as governor.

I guess you aren't getting my point, if he ran on the platform of seceeding Texas would become a country and he would have the opportunity to be the president of Texas and would no longer care what Bernake was doing. a new currency would be created based on sounds money, no IRS, etc....
