SO my younger sister just returned from her out of state college. Me and her are completely opposite on political views and we got into a debate tonight on world wide currency and our way of governing. I never thought my sister was as liberal as she came out tonight. She honestly thinks that there should be no states and just one country called the USA with one president and a legislature. she thinks all the laws should be final and 100% agreed upon !! ( i tried not to laugh, i couldnt believe what i was hearing. I mean how the hell would you ever get 100% of the people to agree on something) She is very sweet and cares for everyone but she has gotten very UTOPIAN like and she will do anything the Obama admin. wants. She even said if there was to be a world government ( and she wasn;t against it) she would want Obama to lead it.

ANyways i need help arguing my point on one world currency. I embarassed her on foreign policy, human rights, etc. She had no good arguments or at least nothing that made any sense logically. But i had a hard time debating one world currency and why it was wrong. I am no expert on economics so can someone help with this ?!

thanks!

Show her America Freedom to Fascism.

SHe is to stubborn to even read ron pauls : revolution a manifesto

I would have to present my argument to her. I'll have to watch it and then speak the info to her i guess.

As a liberal, it is fair to assume that she is opposed to monopoly. Why then would she be in favor of monopoly in the areas that matter most, government policy and the issuance of currency?

Her instincts are good as far as unanimity of opinion before a law can be passed. This might be a great way to ensure that "congress shall pass no law." However, point out that her instincts on this pretty much preclude such a thing as a world government, as unanimity of opinion across disparate cultures is pretty unlikely. That said, you might point out that we civil rights- loving Americans are likely to be woefully outnumbered by the cretins of the world and her hopes of advancing human rights through one world government are more likely to enable exactly the opposite. She is much better off defending sovereignty of separate states and allowing for choice, in the best anti-monopoly tradition, than in throwing in her lot with the whole wide world and hoping for the best.

Also, you should try your best not to "embarrass" her. It will only close her mind.

It's quite simple why one would not want a one world currency. Control. You are giving one entity total control over how anything occurs. Express to her first how your opinion about everything seems different from hers. Well if you are in control of the money. You can control her thought by offering ability to access money or watch her starve to death so she has no thought against yours.

Then make her watch this.(short and to the point for a liberal)

And ask her which role she thinks she will get in this system.

Well part of the reason you probably got caught up, is that a standard currency used by all the countries accross the world isn't a bad thing. Gold, silver etc. It helps with the international division of labour. And there have been periods were Spanish silver operated as a currency excepted everywhere.

BUT this is VERY different to what she is proposing. That would be WITHOUT a WORLD Central Bank, WITHOUT a WORLD Government, WITHOUT a FIAT CURRENCY backed by nothing but FORCE and FAITH.

Obviously she knows jack dick about why all that is bad. So it will be your job to convince her, which seems like an effort considering her other views.

Economics is the best bet.

Ask her, Why shouldn't we make the minimum wage $50 an hour? :)

Try to establish that taxation is theft. Then you'll have to convince her that Inflation is a hidden tax.

Use a lot of, that is 'immoral', 'unethical', 'evil' because _______________________ .

You have the moral highground, take it. :D

A few basic ideas off the top of my head:

One world currency would force most countries to similiar standards of living. Talk about a shock to the American people when the NWO currency is valued toward the lowest common denominator (Zimbabwe), as opposed to the current highest common denominator (the USD). There would have to be more parity between nations if all used the same currency. Socialists would probably love that though...well, at least until they can't afford their tofu and lattes anymore.

Central control of a single currency means central control of the entire planet! If she thinks the US gov't isn't doing a good job, wait until the people at the top aren't even Americans! I think that one is pretty self-explanatory why it's not good.

Taxation would take on a whole new meaning and scope. No longer would taxes be dispursed to Americans in the form of building projects, research, national defense, etc. It would easily be reappropriated to foreign countries with no connection to the US. We would essentially lose all control of our money and where it goes, probably with no accountability or oversight. Think the Fed is a shady group? Wait till it's truly international. Sure, we give away a lot to foreign countries already but it would then become involuntary on the national level.

Btw, your story is just more proof that universities are becoming nothing but liberal (socialist?) breeding grounds. Has anyone ever gone to a 4 year university and emerged conservative???

I have been in a 4 year university for 3 years now and i started off as very liberal and now i am about as far from that as possible. I just form my own opinions when in history and political science classes, where as most students listen and follow there teachers lead, thinking they must be right because they know more about the subject. Most teachers are liberal on universities, so that is why the swing is so big.

I don't blame her, she's not racist and nationalist, believes all human beings are equal so why should we have borders and barriers?

A one world currency is fine, just as long as its not a currency that can be controlled and manipulated by any one group of people. For that you need silver or gold.

When we were on a gold standard back in the day, we already had a global currency.. But the angle here is like the other user said.. control.. Why let a small group have a monopoly on money creation..

If its NOT okay for your sister to counterfeit money, then why should it be okay for some other group of people to counterfeit the money?

We have a one world reserve currency. Its gold. Boo Gold. We should destroy all the gold in the world because it is limiting our freedom.

I am writing a book due out mid-Fall that is being written just for her. I'll be posting stuff on here in the coming weeks with more info. If you haven't "converted" her by then, maybe the book will help.
