Ron Paul said USA is bankrupt and the Dollar is finished. Peter Schiff has said the same.

What do you think happens when that happens?

Nice hints there Frank, but what do you think what will America and the American state look like after this?

Like Germany in the 1930s, authoritharian and expansionist, intent on substituting a failing economy with imperial plunder?

Like Italy in the 1920s, authoritharian but too poor to wage wars of conquest?

Like Russia in the 1990s, corrupt and dysfunctional, fading into poverty and obscurity, but not less free than before?

Or like America in 1780s, free and starting anew?

Americans aren't Russians, Germans or Italians, so likely the reaction will be different.

Depends on people's attitudes to the federal government; more than likely, I can see America saying "screw you, Democrats and Republicans", which leads me to wonder if its worth Ron Paul not staying on as a Republican and instead going 3rd party for 2012. It might make better political sense not to be associated with either party that presided over this debacle, and his lone vocal criticism for the last 30 years of their monetary policy will win over a lot of people if the economy has crashed.
