Slowly, people are waking up. A response I usually get nowadays is that people are enthusiastic about Ron Paul's economic stance, but wouldn't support him because of his foreign policy. So, I'm trying to formulate an answer that explains how our foreign policy ties in with the economy, how we're actually not keeping the Middle-east in check or helping Israel, and why it hinders our foreign relations.

No one seems to get that you can't hate Ron Paul's foreign policy and adore him on an economic standpoint at the same time. Part of his amazing ability to predict economic trends stems from an understanding of foreign policy.

I really don't think there is a quicky response to this one, they really have to learn history and see how intervention has always caused problems. Iran is a good example without having to go too far back, make sure they are aware that Iran hasn't attacked another country in however many years. Another good source is the CIA backed information on blowback. Another good one is "War is a Racket" by Gen. Smedly.

Is there a good youtube video regarding our military interventionism? I remember one to the song "What a Wonderful World" but I can't find it.

People would be happy to sell us oil. We could always buy oil. We fight these wars in the oil patch not because they wouldn't sell it to us if we didn't kick their asses first, but because we want to force them to sell oil only for dollars. And the reason for that is, it increases the demand for the U.S. dollar, so we can increase the supply of them without so much inflation.

lets just wait until our military is routed and countries begin kicking us out of our embassies before we concern ourselves with foreign policy. bottom line, if Dr. Paul is right about money, then he is right about everything else. the economy collapsing is a side effect of terrible policies and US government intervention in every facet of life on planet earth.

The solution that Dr. Paul has for the economy is the same solution he has for every other problem we face. That's limiting government largess and reexamining what the role of government ought to be. The military and foreign policy are not exempt from this solution. The economy and foreign policy are tied together in a vast network of financial , defense, energy, gov. lobbyist cartels called the military industrial complex. In order to crack one of these nuts, you have to crack them all.

Great vids. I'm trying to combine layman explanations with videos, since the people I'm trying to talk to aren't much into politics.

Liberals have it the other way around. "I like his foreign policy, but hate his economic and domestic policy."

One fact that shocked the hell out of me and I know most people are not aware of this, Iran had a flourishing democracy until we overthrew it and put in a dictator to do our bidding. Then we intervened in the Iraq-Iran war just in case they got out of control and threatened Israel. Our occupation of Saudia Arabia at the time lit the fuse for Osama Bin Laden and other muslim extremists (as evident by the Beirut barracks bombing). Also, the Iraq invasion plan had been in place since 1996 under the advisement of Israeli officials. 9/11 was a rather convenient excuse to put this plan into action.

So think of how many lives we could've saved and how much more stable the Middle East would be if we just stopped screwing with their affairs and let Israel deal with it's own shit. God damn AIPAC.
