Hey Everyone,

Some 3rd party (not the official GOP) is advertising a Straw Poll event
in NJ on their site and requesting people send in $18 for a ticket
to the Straw Poll. You can see a Paypal link and PDF on the left
of this page;

http://gopusanj.com/wordpress/

Is this a scam? You'll notice in the PDF document it says "The
following campaigns have confirmed" and "Speaking on behalf
of the Candidates"

I called the official campaign and they have no knowledge of this
even and have not given anyone permission to be a surrogate
or speak on behalf of Ron Paul which is in contray to how this
event is being presented.

Please help I do not want my fellow New Jerseyians to be scammed
at the same time I do not want to be alarmist if this is not a scam.

Does anyone have contact information for Murray Sabrin? Would like
to see what he thinks of this advertisment and what the official
campaign is saying.

Not sure what to do.

Thanks,

Jack

That's a GOPUSA (http://www.gopusa.com/) thing. GOPUSA is a website run by Bobby Eberle of Houston. Ilions is one of his minions. (http://ancapistan.typepad.com/edit/michael_illionsaj_sparxx/index.html) He wrestles under the name AJ Sparxx, (http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=11375868)or he did, I haven't checked up on them in a while.

I think they're wannabes. They're definitely not THE GOP. You may want to check with the NJ GOP and see if they're in any way involved with this.

BTW, Eberle's claim to fame is that Jeff Gannon (remember him?) worked for him. Talon News (Gannon's fake "news" employer was an Eberle production, under the GOPUSA banner.) was set up by Eberle to give Gannon an excuse to be in the WH press conferecnes.

Jack I called them last week and the campaign also told me they knew nothing about it.. But then after some time

Well this is the response I got best to my memory.

"You can keep checking the CWA website, and if it hasnt been authorized by the Ron Paul campaign Im sure it will get changed.. and if it doesnt get changed then Im sure it was authorized by the campaign..."

It wasnt that helpful, but I figure I might as well go.. we got like 46 people who said theyre going to go from our meetup so what the hell.

I emailed Murray Sabrin to see if he is really speaking at this and if the campaign really knows about it, like this guy claims. (http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?p=194644#post194644)

A bunch of people from my meetup are going. I hope it is not a "Scam"

Either way, it appears Dr. Sabrin and Paul are friends.
