What the hell is everyone doing blaming AIG?!? First off, its a small percentage of the money they got that went to bonuses, 88% went to banks OVERSEAS! The bonuses were already in the contract before, i would tell them to shove it up there ass if they asked me to give it back. Next, the government new and let the the bonuses go thru! There just trying to take the fire away from them and put it on somebody else! Now there trying to tax the bonuses back?!? Whats next they tax everyone that doesnt agree with them?!? This is obsurd! People should be enraged at the government not the people that got what was in their contracts! We should be marching on Washington not on Wall Street!

Pickpockets need distractions. Otherwise, they get caught.

Feel better now that you've vented? Hope not. Hope you'll go preach to someone besides the choir now.

Politicians blast AIG execs = news.

Reporters are not newsmakers, they are reporters.

Politicians establish problems, news, and "solutions". This is how they are re-elected. Democracy!

But AIG bonuses are bad. I spent all day thinking about that and only that.

I skipped over any news story that had any mention of the Fed printing $1 trillion yesterday.

That couple million dollars in bonuses is going to destroy our country.

I believe everything I see on TV too.

simple answer screw aig and anyone working there, they should go bankrupt and sell their assets then you my friend can run aig instead of bitching at us for their screws up F*$k AIG and everyone of the companies that need a bailout , they all(everyone of them not just aig) should restructure or go under! everyone of the managers should go live in a ditch or apply at mcdonald's

I am launching our own company . i am not asking for bailouts . they all should go away or restructure and fire the people running the companies then there will be plenty of jobs. and they should be jobless! these comapnies should fire everyone one of the managers, then you can apply for their jobs and other americans that are more qualified can replace them. none of these bastards should get a bonus or keep getting paychecks ,off to the homeless shelter with everyone one of them!!

we all get the bigger picture, they do not deserve free oodles and noodles!!

I have CNBC on, and was impressed that they just blamed politicians for using taxpayer money to bet on bankers.

I wish they would get to the real issue....the goverment should have never got into the business of bailing out private businesses anyway!

Now they are stuck with the problem. I don't think going retro-active on the bonuses which are a small percentage of the whole chunk is the right thing to do. IMHO, this is a great testament to how socialism always fails.

Where were the bastards last fall? Oh, yeah--they were busy telling us how the whole economy would disappear in a puff of smoke if we didn't bail out all these rich people, like, yesterday. I remember now...

We have every right to clawback money used to bailout AIG if it was done with taxpayer dollars. There should be no discussion.

But obviously theres bigger fish to fry. Yes its all showboating. I would have to say the real idiots are those that thought it was a good idea to shovel money to them in the first place.

Wouldn't it be funny if AIG just multiplied the bonuses they give by 10. That way they would get roughly the same amount after taxes. I mean, congress will just throw more money at AIG again if they come up short, right? Why the hell should AIG care? They've got congress by the balls because they're "too big to fail".

Amen. This whole thing is just a big distraction. Plus, contracts are contracts. I knew this was gonna happen when the government gives money to businesses - suddenly every expenditures is viewed through the lens of government.

We need a national debate on the 11-12 trillion in guarantees and payments made by the government (mainly Fed and Treasury) since bailouts began.
