N.C. Gov. Bev Purdue is crazy about "sin" taxes.

She is asking for another $1.00 per pack in taxes. This on top of .35 cents.

So that is $1.35 in taxes for the state.

Federal tax is about .39 cent. Add the new .62 cent and thats about another $1.00

So 2.35 per pack of cigarettes tax.

Heh, that's higher than the cost of the product in many cases.

That's ok though. Go ahead and support them. Once the smokers quit that cost will be passed on to everyone else.

Crazy, I remember back when I lived in Georgia ages ago that you could buy smokes at 17 not 18. I guess they did that to help the tobacco industry and the growers in the state.
