Sorry but the other threads are a mess on this topic. Here's my point. I thought Beck's "We Surround Them" was about the out of control government and returning to small, Constitutional government.

Instead we were treated to a neocon lovefest blasting "Islamic Fascism" and "Secular America". What do these things have to do with tea parties and the economic collapse? What a wasted opportunity.

Beck is an emotional wreck. BTW, when is he going to come out of the closet?

I think he tried to come out but the door was shut on him before he could.
The gay community didn't want him.

I, for one, did not consider the fellow who said,

"I went to Afghanistan because I wanted to inflict pain and suffering, but then it was a village of Afghanis who risked their lives to save mine" as a defense of interventionist policies, more like "I was wrong, but too chicken-shit to come out and say it on nationwide TV"

YMMV

Not that I trust GB - I don't yet - but the more movement the mainstream moves in our direction, the more you people hate them. WTF???

WTF is WRONG with you people??!!?? Are you guys fascist plants trying to keep us insignificant and irrelevant?!!??

THIS IS WHAT WE WANT! We WANT these morons to start moving in our direction, even if kicking and screaming!

Jesus people! I was just called a FUCKING NEOCON on these very boards, because I am a part of an effort to transform the NCGOP to the Taft-Goldwater-Paul platform!

How the hell can RON PAUL people be this STUPID??!!??!!

I thought the whole point of the show was to get people engaged and talking with their neighbors -- that was his whole "around the kitchen table" idea. Frankly I think he is right that as things get worse, people will crawl into their turtle shells and isolate themselves which is counterproductive --- in our case it is counterproductive to preserving/restoring LIBERTY. Being social and communicating with those in your local communities is a GREAT idea, and MORE people need to be doing so. Don't give me the BS about "socializing is bad" as it was Hayek and Mises who promoted INDIVIDUALS SOCIALIZING when they share a COMMON purpose. Many of us e-socialize here, or offline in Meetup groups.

There have been a few posters, I think FrankRep was the first I saw, to make a great point that these new meetups will be hotbeds of people who are really looking for our cause of Limited Government and the strict adherance to the Constitution. Those of you who've run meetups in the past, and maybe we can get some new people to do so, should think about spearheading a new op in your community to take the lead in these conversations -- why not right?

A lot of that show was theatrics and sillyness in my opinion. Josh is right, he truly is the "Mayor of Crazytown". I thought it was a horrible idea to use 9/11 as the step-off point to launch a new activist movement, but I also do remember how people came together after that day. This new economic crisis will be worse than 9/11 because it's going to hit everyone's home a lot harder, so I see what he was getting it, but thought it was a foolish delivery. I think his 9 Principles and 12 Values are great, and getting people to think about Principles and Values is pretty hard to sell me as "crazy".

Bottomline for me was the theatrics, hero worship, 9/11-changed-everything stuff was totally unnecessary for the underlying message he was trying to deliver, and like many of the responses in this thread indicate, confused the hell out of a lot of us. If his show engages people to talk about the issues locally, this is a great opportunity for us to get into these discussions to appropriately frame the debate as folks who've been living this stuff for the past two years.

Hehe. Technically, I guess they are cats, Afghans and Iranians. Although only certain parts of the Afghan population consider themselves Persians. They are mostly Dari speakers.

actually just half of Afghans speak Dari. The Pashtuns speak Pashto, which is between 35 and 43%, and the Uzbeks speak Uzbek, and the Turkmen and Balochs have their own languages. Dari is mainly spoken by the Tajiks and Hazaaras.

Dari is lingua franca and is pretty much spoken by everyone albeit not as a first language.

Its called GroupThink. For all we say and do, we can be just as susceptible to it as others. And yes, the bashing of Beck (especially bringing up stuff from 2 yrs ago) is getting tiresome. Its all well and good to distrust Beck (I listen to his radio show on occassion where he sounds more reasonable). Its another to throw the baby out with the bathwater. Sadly, given the nature of our government and PsyOps, we can never be truly sure any posters on this forum are anything but FBI douchebags keeping tabs on us and occassionally stirring the shit to divide us.

On those two points, I agree with Glenn Beck. The former is the foreign threat we have to face in the world, while the latter is the domestic threat facing our country. Everything else he discussed I was either indifferent about or already educated on.

I also have to agree with GunnyFreedom that at least the ideas which Beck is speaking out about are getting into the ears of the masses. This is a good thing for us, and it may lead to a bigger movement of returning to the principles of a constitutional republic. Maybe that's what his "912 Project" is all about.

LMAO. Rational, thinking people who believe in scientific evidence instead of blood-soaked ancient fairytale books are a threat to the nation?

I think you have it backwards.

It's not rational, thinking people who believe in scientific evidence that present the threat, for there are many Christians, like myself, who fit in that category. It is the militant secular humanists, such as Sam Harris, Christopher Hitchens, and the ACLU, who seek to destroy any Christian religious heritage which is part of the foundations of our republic that I'm referring to. They seek to inculcate a new religion into every sphere of society, including education, entertainment, and ethics. Of course, when humanism enters into society, it destroys everything which it seeks to protect and uphold. The "atheistic" regimes of Hitler, Stalin, and Mao remind us of that fact. Why do you think our nation is becoming more and more socialist?

By definition, this is false.

There is not one shred of valid scientific evidence for any religion, including yours.

What makes natural science the standard test of validity for any religion? You're assuming that natural science is the only way truth about reality, morality, beauty, and rationality can be derived, yet none of those concepts are made of natural elements.

It's easy to see the limits of science, for natural science can only tell us what is the case, but it can never tell us what ought to be the case. Religion is not only biological, but it is also anthropological, among other things. The nature of evidence one looks for as a valid proof of one's religion is based on their naturalistic or supernaturalistic presuppositions about life in general.

However, this is way off the topic of this thread, so I'll just leave you with those things to consider at your leisure.

Failure to recognize this could be a reason why "libertarians" never get anywhere.

If that is considered Machiavellian and offends sensibilities, so be it. We believe in free markets because, of all the economic theories out there, it works best. Why sacrifice political effectiveness in the quest for idealogical purity, when not the even communists, socialists, and fascists are that dumb?
