Skip to the last 30 seconds. Dr. Paul is asked if he has ever smoked marijuana, and he says, "You know, this is the truth, and most people believe what I say. I have never seen anybody smoke marijuana, and I have never... never been in the same room with it."

The good doctor. :D

Of course, this could be the reason he loves chocolate chip cookies. :)

You've got to be kidding? "Clintonesque moment"????

It's not hard to believe at all that Ron Paul has never smoked pot.

ya know what. I forgive Ron Paul for never ever smoking or being in a room with someone who smoked pot. He has seen more poon-tang than 95% of the guys on the planet.

Ron isn't lying.
Though Ronald Reagen did sign one of Ron's photos to "Mary Jane".
Now figure that out.
I think its the photo of them on the airplane if someone can find it.

I'm with LE; I don't see this from any angle as being a Clinton-esque moment. We all know Ron's a straight up guy. If the man had smoked pot, guaranteed he'd admit it (and probably say he liked it :D ).

The majority of RPFers do NOT use marijuana. http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?t=139822

I've never touched the stuff nor seen anyone else use it outside of TV.

The drug culture isn't American culture, but if you're an American in the drug culture (which is admittedly HUGE), it's easy to imagine how you could think otherwise.

How is that Clinton-esque? Clinton said: "I experimented with marijuana a time or two, and I didn't like it. I didn't inhale and never tried it again."

The impossibility isnt that someone could not have smoked pot, but that he could be "experimenting" yet not inhale. I can believe he's never smoked it, I know I've never.

Saying "I have never seen anybody smoke marijuana, and I have never... never been in the same room with it." means he has never tried it. How is anyone taking this to mean something else?

My guess is that this was a joke that Ron played on Reagan. Since Reagan was one of the founders and huge supporter of the war on drugs, i can imagine a younger Ron Paul having Reagan address his letter to mary jane as an inside joke he and a few other libertarians would enjoy.

I could be hugely mistaken though, but until proven otherwise, i like to imagine a younger Ron as a bit of a jokester like myself.

No joke, how could you "experiment" and not inhale? Maybe someone can inform me on this -- can you puff weed like you puff a cigar -- you know, all in the cheeks? Maybe that's what he meant.

Used to smoke it, saw people smoking it all the time. Quit 6 years ago, and oddly enough have not been around it or seen it since. Go figure.

The note is addressed to Ron, it is signed as 'Mary Jane'. This is a photo given to Ron Paul, so the signer is not Ron.

When Ron Paul says no he means no. I grew up in the seventies and I never have smoked the stuff. I love how the stoners try to bring him into their club. If RP smoked weed I wouldn't be pushing him for president as it would show a severe lack of judgment.

the funny part ,people voting this down are the same people , who pop pills or drink.

the marijuana haters are just brainwashed folks really.

stop eating your vegetables, science has proven them more toxic to your bodies then eating marijuana!!!

The following was written by Tucker Carlson recalling when Ron Paul shared his brownies.

We were both finishing our brownies when he mentioned they'd been baked by a supporter. I stopped chewing. Where I work, this is a major taboo (Rule One: Never eat food sent by viewers), and my concern must have shown. Paul grinned. "Maybe they're spiked with marijuana," he said.

If so, it would have been his first experience with illegal drugs. Though Paul argues passionately for liberalizing marijuana laws and is beloved by potheads (Timothy Leary once held a fund-raiser for him), he has never smoked pot himself. He sounded shocked when I asked him. "I have never seen anyone smoke marijuana," he said. "I don't think I'd be open to using it." For some people, libertarianism is the philosophical justification for a zany personal life. Paul, by contrast, describes his hobbies as gardening (roses and organic tomatoes) and "riding my bicycle." He has never had a cigarette. He doesn't swear. He limits his drinking to an occasional glass of wine and goes to church regularly. He has been married to the same woman for 50 years. Three of their five children are physicians.

Ron Paul is deeply square, and every bit as deeply committed to your right not to be.
