Yeah, I never heard that side before. Interesting!

"Will you be running in 2012?"

"Well, I may be running from somebody!"

Maybe that was just me, but that was one of the great Ron Paul interviews ever. D.L. Hughley was literally having an ephiphany on national TV, and I think an entirely new audience just got exposed to Ron for the first time. By the end of the interview, D.L. was speechless and just mouthing "wow" as they cut off to commerical. :D

Youtube is being so uncooperative for me lately.

The first upload failed for some reason.

I'm uploading again. I wish I had more bandgirth.

Seems like he was sucking up to get our audience to save his ratings, since his show is going down, but maybe he was sincere.

Really good interview. Oddly cut, but RP was good. DL seems like a nice guy but his "how can you be a republican?" got annoying after like the 10th time! not like democrats are any better!

Ron speaks so well when he is informed by his staff that it is a comedy show. They should tell him that before every interview. He is more relaxed and is very personable. The kind of speaker that gets elected president.

Agree. But I attribute that to the bad taste in people's mouths from the Bush years.

Anyway, I didn't know DL had a show like this. He seems pretty open minded. Look forward to more of his interviews.

Thanks for the link!

That was an awesome interview to a whole new segment of the population that has never heard him in that way before.

The title of the segment on the crawler was "Give me Libertarian or give me death"

D.L: "You make way too much sense! You just can't be Republican!?!"

Well, D.L., maybe you shouldn't be a Democrat if you agree! ;) :D

Or maybe Ron should just run 3rd party then. Break from the Republican party because it can't get its shit together. :D Yeah, yeah, I know all the drawbacks, and that he probably won't do it, but a guy can always dream. :)

One of the main reasons I will always like DL Hughley is that he was one of the few black entertainers/celebrities to come out in SUPPORT of Don Imus, or more accurately in support of freedom of speech as a 'zero sum game', over the nappy headed hos fiasco. In fact I know of no others who did. And he did so during an appearance on Leno.

First is the video of his Leno appearance:

Next, is an interview he did discussing the protesters and freedom of speech at one of his shows following his Leno appearance:

Good stuff.

Enjoy.

D.L Hughley is brave, plus he doesn't have any sort of agenda like most entertainers and tv pundits

I liked that he brought up the "civil war" issue and near the end, not the beginning. I remember watching that first maher interview where Hughley was a panelist and how Maher tried to stick it to RP with the civil war question. IIRC, Hughley made a comment afterwards to the effect of, "Well, I'm glad the war was fought".

But it appears that after later thinking on the subject he has progressed to the same thought that I received from friends that saw the maher interview. "Wow, I never thought about it like that. We could have freed the slaves without war? And no other country had a civil war to free the slaves?"

That was exactly what my mom and I were saying! I tend to watch interviews with her when I'm home, and we never thought about it that way, and that's exactly what she said. :D

I had about 3 people that I knew watched Maher and I told them to make sure to pay attention. All 3 IM'd me the next day saying pretty much that exact thing.

Wow, that was a terrific interview!

Hughley has a very relaxed, congenial interviewing style that is a refreshing departure from the "glibly answer my framed, red-herring-ridden cheap shot in ten seconds before we go to break" style of David Shuster, Joe Scarborough, and other MSM hacks.

I can't believe this guy got canceled while Mika Brzezinski is still allowed on the public airwaves!!!
