It's hopeless. Ron could'nt get on the ballot if he kneeled at WalMart giving free bj's.

And who might you be?

I thought since Ron Paul is running under the Republican Party, he is on all the ballots. I think you have to get signatures only if you are running as an independent, or un-qualified third party.

I have no idea if he's on the ballot. You can probably call your local County Commissioner's office and find out.

Called the NJ Board of Election and was told none of the candidates have filed yet.

Hi,

Great that you have an interest in what really counts. For what it's worth, no one can file anything yet anywhere (well, WV had a "registration" deadline). In DC, we can't pick up the ballot petitions for another month and they aren't due until December. Send me a PM with your email address and remind me of this thread and the state, and I'll send the information from 2004 to give you some idea. The RNC by-laws required the states to finalize their processes and dates by earlier this month so everyone is still collecting all of the changes, etc.

To get on the Presidential Primary ballot in NJ requires 1,000 signatures of registered voters. The petitions with signatures must be submitted by 4 p.m. on December 10, 2007.

According to the Instruction Sheet (PDF linked below), persons with questions should contact:

The Republican State Committee contact person and telephone number are Don Povia, Executive Director, 609-989-7300.

If you have any questions, you may contact the Division of Elections at (609) 292-3760.

Go here: http://www.nj.gov/oag/elections/2008results/2008_presidential_nomination_petitions.html

The PDF explaining how to qualify a candidate for the Presidential Primary in NJ is here: http://www.nj.gov/oag/elections/2008results/08-Presidential-Primary-Instruction-sheet.-8.16.07.pdf

The PDF of the petition (which can contain as many as 100 signatures) is here: http://www.nj.gov/oag/elections/2008results/08-Nom-petition-primary-elect-president-8.8.07(web).pdf

Thank you bbachtung for your efforts to obtain this info; I was well aware of what was needed to be done, that is why I asked the question in the first place. I guess my question should have been more on the line of; is there an organized effort to complete this task?

I will be attending a “Grassroots Campaigning” class tonight with Anita from the RP campaign. I am sure this subject will be addressed.

Thanks
John

I just got word that we have a strong, vetted, verified list of 1000+ signatures to ensure Ron Paul is on the ballot! The list has been completely checked and ALL questional signatures not included in the tally. So In short: we did it.

Great work Ron Paul volunteers on getting those signatures.

And thanks Michael for heading up this effort!

The petitions have not yet been submitted. We're waiting for some of my Mercer County stragglers and have over 140 signatures to add. That should put us (unofficially - estimate based on the last numbers I have heard ) over 2,000. I believe the petitions are going to be submitted by the end of the week.

If anyone needs to sign one, I still have a petition- Turning it in tomorrow night - I work in Princeton and live in the Trenton area.

Remember you have to be a registered republican in NJ to sign the petition.

No, you do not. Unaffiliated can also sign it. Note: That is different than Independent. This is straight from the Board of Elections. Go ahead and ask Michael.

But either way, the more signatures the better.

I'm not sure how to sign if you are unaffiliated because line #3 of the petition you are signing says that you are attesting that :

"I am a member of the Republican party"

I understand what you are saying. It is confusing. But this issue has been confirmed by the Board of Elections, as well as a few GOP officials that have experience in these petitions and are Ron Paul supporters and meetup members.

But it isnt any issue anyways, Michael has said that we have over a 1000 Republican, verified, confirmed signatures already (using a very rigorous test). So we should be good to go.
