The SHERIFF is THE elected official. He was NOT the one who did this. Misleading title.

My kids have kicked a shoe or two off at us over the years and I didn't feel the need to beat them senseless. They turned out ok.

True, but in common any deputy or officer in the sheriff dept is referred to as sheriff, even though they are not the Elected Sheriff.
As they are all under the authority of the Sheriff.
Somewhat misleading, but common.

Incorrect. They are ALWAYS referred to in every case as DEPUTY. You also wouldn't refer to a policeman as the police cheif. The sheriff is head honcho. I find it bizarre that you feel you should correct with a blatent error.

Wrong
As a rule I don't use Deputy as a designater.
A Sheriff car is any car with the colors and markings of the Sheriff Dept.
A sheriff uniform is any of the Uniforms worn by all the members of the Dept.
I don't run up and see if it says" Deputy" on the badge.
I don't generally make the distinction when speaking about them, nor do most other people.
It is just another Police force, and the descriptor as the City Cop or Sheriff or State .

Well if I must.
I think you have done a fine job of derailing the thread.Instead of examining the abuse and misconduct of the Government enforcers, you have turned it to nitpiking over semantics.
Good Job.

There are several other threads on this same subject. That's also why there is little interest. Redundant.

Someone else that is TOO IGNORANT to check the story and just jump to a stupid conclusion.
She did NOT steal a car.
Regardless of that Fact, it is not the deputy sheriff's job to punish anyone. Nor is it his job to determine guilt.
That is up to the court.
