Unsold Car Images From Around The World

http://www.silverbearcafe.com/private/01.09/unsoldcars.html

There will be a fire sale of 2009 models to make room for 2010 models.

They will need to lower prices on 2010 models and layoff workers.

Oh? I thought the bailouts were designed to get the consumer back in the stores buying stuff! I bet people will be running out to buy new cars soon... or not. But then what? When people dont buy the cars, what then? Another bailout?

Now the government will decide how many cars are produced each year and what models are made. I'm sure this will end well.

Not just cars.

30 percent of US rail cars idle.

So should we go with what some supply siders say and give the companies money to increase production, drive down prices, and thus get people to buy more cars? Wouldn't that help the economy? But that would mean even more cars sitting around.
We could use the agrucultural support model- pay companies NOT to make cars.

Not to mention that if they lower the prices without increasing productivity or reducing the cost of production? They will end up selling each car at a loss. Would you buy a new 2010 model or get one of the fire sale 2009 models - both brand new? I think most people will buy the 2009 so they are going to need to cut production big time and layoff people..

It does not look good and there seems to be no way out of it?

Why don't they just change the labels on the 2009s and make them '10 and just not produce any this year.

At least it was fiction.

I don't have any pictures, but the Hyundai plant in Hope Hull, AL has literally ACRES upon ACRES of unsold cars on the lot. Assembly workers have been cut to 3 days a week.

30% of boxcars are idle, not 30% of all railcars. Boxcars are used to ship mostly finished product and are truck competitive. With low fuel prices, hungry truckers, and a severe recession, 30% idle boxcars can be expected. Total railcar volume is down 14.2% in the last year.

They are even storing them on ships now.
