Tulsa's Tea Party, or How I Spent My Lunch Hour. Quite a crowd, and not hardly everyone is from our meetup! I loved to see the age and social class range we drew. Great stuff!

I'm especially heartened considering the jet stream moved from above to below us last night, and where it was 81F yesterday it's only about 33F today. Wonder if we'd have done even better if the good weather held!

P.S. We had the AM radio stations out--in fact, one even acted as a sponsor. There was at least one tv station on hand as well. Didn't get a good pic of my favorite sign--honk if you'll pay my mortgage! No, that wasn't my favorite. My favorite said, 'You are spending my great grandchildrens' inheritance'--and was all the more effective for being toted around by a girl of eight or nine. Unfortunately, just about the time I noticed her, her arms got tired and she put it away...

All in all, I think we did great!!

Come on, you folks from elsewhere. Post 'em!

Wonder if we'd have done even better if the good weather held!Yes the weather at the Nashville event wasn't that great either. I couldnt make it but the problem is that it's cold and rainy today. Also it was in the middle of downtown during lunch hour and it has only been promoted since Monday/Tuesday. So there wasn't a lot of time for it to gain momentum.

I should have some pics soon.

The dogwood and azalea were barely off their Easter peak.

My sign was ready.

The crowd was reportedly not nearly as good as the midday tea parties, but was great nonetheless.

The speaker lineup was great. Randy Brogdon spoke even as the meetup was raising fifteen grand to kick of his campaign for governor. Among the other speakers:

http://s262.photobucket.com/albums/ii95/acptulsa/teaparty008-1.jpg

Our inestimable new county G.O.P. chair, Mrs. Sally Bell, giving a wonderful speech on the founding fathers.

http://s262.photobucket.com/albums/ii95/acptulsa/teaparty009.jpg

Our new vice chair, J.D. Alexander, who gave an even more rousing speech.

http://s262.photobucket.com/albums/ii95/acptulsa/teaparty012.jpg

And a blogger from World Net Daily, who got himself heckled for saying Andy Jackson was the only president ever to pay off the national debt.

The signs were great, the speakers were all good, the day was beautiful and I was as happy with the Tea party as the Mad Hatter!

I've added an image gallery for these at Liberty Collaborative (http://www.libertycollaborative.com) so anyone can sign up there and upload if you want.

Please don't upload other people's pictures, and consider uploading the highest resolution version you have, or if you want to retain some power over your work, upload a lower resolution version and retain your higher resolution version.

Here's mine:

We may have had the smallest Tea Party in the nation :) A friend of ours bought adspace in the newspaper to advertise it, but didn't show up :(

It was a success though - several random folks stopped to hold signs with us, and we talked to lots of people, handed out literature, and assuredly got at least 1 new Campaign for Liberty member. Made some new friends too!

If you are any kind of local coordinator, use these events to trade contact information and keep folks in the loop! A lot of people show up to these things but never go to CFL or LibertyForest or anything like that, and a weekly email will help them be more involved. We are the leaders of the information revolution!

Great work guys, yesterday was a great day.

Let's make the 25th End the Fed rallies just as good, OR BETTER!

yessir, it was a beautiful day. I'll tell her.

Oh ya, I forgot -- a newspaper photographer was there and ready for us when we arrived! he's a supporter (or exceedingly neutral and supportive of any activism) so it appears we will get some press.

I got propositioned by a seriously hot woman while I was there. After some confusion about whether 'would you mind'-'not at all' is a yes or a no, I found myself in front of a FOX23 camera for a while. I seem to be the only person interviewed at the evening rally. They then panned over the crowd and left.

They showed the first fifteen words out of my mouth, and that was it. About the time I got warmed up, the producer seems to have lost interest. All the rest wound up on the proverbial cutting room floor. 'We could get rid of the Department of Education--it has done nothing but harm since it was created.' *snip* 'This is the biggest reverse Robin Hood transfer of wealth from the poor to the rich ever.' *snip* Two Will Rogers quotes. *snip*

Just checked the website. I don't seem to be there. At all.

Not to worry, Rupert. Your minions here in Tulsa are zealously guarding your faux conservative message...

There were between 300-400 people there which was a good turnout considering it was in a small and liberal college town.

I couldn't get any pics of Ron while he was speaking, because we were far back and couldn't actually see anything. Here are some pics from after he spoke though.

Same reason you had spots before your eyes for a while after it was taken. 'Fill' flash to take the shadows off your face--and your close proximity to the camera.

Congratulations. You have now officially appeared in an overexposed condition on the internet!
