For those arrogant and short sighted enough to think expanding the federal government during the 8 years of Bush/Cheney would not have serious repercussions now; thanks for handing the democrats all of this power. A powerful federal government results in a weak citizenry that must kiss the feet of government because a government strong enough to give you what you want is strong enough to take it all away. Socialism and fascism can now be implemented at lightning bolt speed, without the roadblocks of the legislative branch which are answerable to the people. The republicans have assured themselves to be so unpopular that the dems have no fear of elections right now. They have a blank check, and are going shopping at Strawbridges.

The Patriot act, Fisa, FISA, Military Comissions Act, Homeland Security, the end of of Posse Commitatus.; and subsequent expansion of the Executive branch, Vice pressidency that completely byspasses the legislative branch answerable to the people.

You get rid of these firewalls that hold the government's power in check, then you have one serious problem. THE GOVERNMENT NO LONGER FEARS THE PEOPLE. THEY NO LONGER RESPECT THE SOVEREIGNTY OF STATES. None of these unprecedented permanent changes that are being implemented right now including, nationaization of banks, socialized health care, cap and trade, would not be possible without the incredible power grab that had occured after 911. We warned these guys, all the while they had the nerve to call us LIBERALS.

All of this kicking and screaming, and phony righteousness of the Sean Hannity types will do no good unless the conservatives understand where the went wrong. The Democrats want European Socialism, and as long as the government no longer fears the people, tryranny is what we will get.

These conservatives are only conservative when it does not matter. Even now, they are grooming more of the same neocon turds with a smile. They sound great on one thing, economic policy, but that is all. NOTHING WILL CHANGE, until they want to shrink THE POWER of the federal government not just the size.
This is true of Glenn beck even. He is coming around, but he must understand this basic principle (which he is shaky on) because it is the foundation in which everything lies upon.

If their philosophy is for a powerful federal government which includes a George Bush foreign policy, and police state building than they are taking us all for a ride. Matter of fact, it is even impossible to shrink the overall size of the government without profound changes in these areas. Don't get sucked into this rhetoric that ignores the other half of the problem that they created.

Wow! We sure do have a lot of local problems that we try to solve on the national level. I wonder what the solution could be? Hmmm . . .
