Chuck Norris said that if he was in charge he'd line up every member of Congress, have Ron Paul point out the dishonest members, and choke them out.

Hope that got Tubed.

Good on 'ya Chuck.

Wish he were at CPAC saying that... I'm afraid one of the neocons is going to win the straw poll there and get a ton of media attention. Ugh.

Yeah I heard it...that was awesome. Unfortunately there is a big gulf between Glenn Beck's view on earmarks and Ron Paul's. Earlier in the show I sent this email:

Mr. Beck,

I certainly share your anger at the government spending and would rather the government be restricted to its Constitutional size and scope. Unfortunately, I, along with others like Representative Ron Paul, would disagree with regard to the legislative power of earmarking. The reasoning is as follows.

Ron Paul, for example, places earmarks in the bill and votes against the whole bill. First of all he cannot be called a hypocrite b/c if everyone followed his lead...the bill would not pass . The vote would be 0-425 if they followed his example.

Now for the constitutional argument as to why he should carve out something specifically for his district: Separation of Powers. If there are no earmarks the funds will go to federal agencies controlled by the President. The President will have the ability to influence the direction of the funds to favored districts and bully or reward congressional members as he sees fit. You might remember that this excessive transfer of power was also the rationale for the Supreme Court ruling the "Line-Item Veto" unconstitutional (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Line_item_veto#Line_Item_Veto_Act_of_1996). The president could use it as a cudgel and the separation of powers would be undermined greatly.

For a case in point look at the recent corruption of the Commerce Department under Obama. The totally political removal of the Census from the Commerce Department was a clear case of the President eviscerating a government agency for political aims once it came under threat from a Republican appointee.

Just keep in mind that if the congress cedes this power it goes to the federal bureaucracies controlled by the Executive Branch.

Hope this was persuasive

Becks immediate expression wasn't what I would have liked it to be.

Chuck has liked Ron Paul for a long time. He just didn't agree with him on the WOT.

correct me if im wrong, but wasnt that same scenario said on RPFs back in 2007? either it was me that said it trying to be funny, or someone else did. i cant remember, but when he said this on beck i thought "man, that sounds very familiar". then i remember seeing it here way back. i could be totally wrong, bu i have heard that scenario before.

i also use to have a diff user name here as well back when i first started so i cannot look it up.

ehhh??

Chuck Norris deserves a thumbs up. Two in fact. At least he realizes that Paul is one hell of an honest dude. Beck did seem to get a bit shitheaded about Norris's joke. Beck still has got some Republican tendencies to get rid of. In this case degrading others for humor. That is a terrible trait that was so strongly presented during the primary debates.
