We all knew this was coming - just maybe not this soon:

WASHINGTON, Feb. 25, 2009—

The Obama administration will seek to reinstate the assault weapons ban that expired in 2004 during the Bush administration, Attorney General Eric Holder said today.
"As President Obama indicated during the campaign, there are just a few gun-related changes that we would like to make, and among them would be to reinstitute the ban on the sale of assault weapons," Holder told reporters.
Holder said that putting the ban back in place would not only be a positive move by the United States, it would help cut down on the flow of guns going across the border into Mexico, which is struggling with heavy violence among drug cartels along the border.

Particularly of interest is the part about banning "cop killer" bullets. Practically any bullet fired from a rifle will penetrate the level IIA or III body armor worn by cops. This tells me that they will try to ban nearly all rifle ammo short of .22lr. I really think ammo will be their method of choice to disarm the citizens.

With the growing atmosphere of economic unrest, I wonder how far they'll get before things blow up in their faces...

I'm utterly convinced they're pushing for a revolution. Absolutely convinced.

Also a funny (not really) thought I had. How can the Dems push so hard for open borders with Mexico and then COMPLAIN about what crosses the border?? Besides, since when did we allow the sale of full autos and grenades that end up in Mexican drug lord's hands like was pointed out in the article as a "reason"? Crazy shit going on.

Exactly!! You guys should have a look at some of the video clips on the abc site. The photos were of military style, "automatic weapons," that have grenade launchers too, and they even had the grenades in the photo!! Some of the guns would accept belt fed ammo. That is totally misleading, and ABC put that on the air, very irresponsible!!

The problem down there isn't the guns, it's what they're fighting over, drug trafficking. Decriminilization here means lots of local supply, which means those drug cartels wouldn't have nearly as much to fight over, since the import demand would dry up. Problem solved!!

Except the price of black rifles to go through the roof -- you can barely find them now as it is.

I knew this was coming. Sooner than I expected though.
He is really trying to piss people off. Well I wasn't going to buy one anyway.

Yup,the price went through the roof last time.
I know the price for me to acquire one.
When it is time that price will be paid.

When they do that, events will take place that none of us can control, and Pandora's Box won't be shut for some time.

Holder said that putting the ban back in place would not only be a positive move by the United States, it would help cut down on the flow of guns going across the border into Mexico, which is struggling with heavy violence among drug cartels along the border.

Someone should tell this idiot that drug cartels don't care about laws. The only people that are affected by these unconstitutional laws are law abiding citizens.

"God forbid we should ever be twenty years without such a rebellion.
The people cannot be all, and always, well informed. The part which is
wrong will be discontented, in proportion to the importance of the facts
they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions,
it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty. ...
And what country can preserve its liberties, if it's rulers are not
warned from time to time, that this people preserve the spirit of
resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as
to the facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost
in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from
time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
It is its natural manure." - Thomas Jefferson

An Obama supporting co-worker was just telling me last week that gun buyers have nothing to fear (from Obama), so there was no need to stock up or buy weapons now. This news just came out, so I hope this gets printed in the newspaper so he can read it. He'll probably still be in denial, but I'll at least try and get him to read it, so he can learn to think a little more critically.

The man's a fuck*n snake. What did you really expect? He's done the opposite of everything he told the sheep before the election, including "I won't take your guns."

Many of us have seen the writing on the wall for some time now. Its very well known that Obama is just a puppet. They want to push for a ban because they know it will cause a revolution. Trust me, if they knock on my door, it isn't going to be pretty.

From the second page of the article:

During his confirmation hearing, Holder told the Senate Judiciary Committee about other gun control measures the Obama administration may consider.

"I think closing the gun show loophole, the banning of cop-killer bullets and I also think that making the assault weapons ban permanent, would be something that would be permitted under Heller," Holder said, referring to the Supreme Court ruling in Washington, D.C. v. Heller, which asserted the Second Amendment as an individual's right to own a weapon.

Guess I'm going to have to put most of that tax "refund" I'm going to get toward an AK I saw in the shop, instead of toward other preps.

I think it's an AK-101, 5.56mm.

Well, watch the assault weapons sales spike now ... of all the things government doesn't understand, unintended consequences may be the greatest.

Any weapon can assault... that's why they call it "Assault with a Deadly Weapon"

What differs weapons are the ones that can cause more harm to Government. Government wants control and security for themselves... of course it will be spun as protecting you and the sheeple fall for it.

I never cared for guns, though I scored the highest ever in marksmanship when I was in the military, to the point I was offered a new job in Air Force Pararescue. I turned it down.

Now, I think it's time to buy a Barett M107 and some supersonic 50 cal ammo... because it's coming to the point in this country with the Socialism/Communism of the Totalitarian regimes are going to destroy all Liberties, Freedoms and the Republic.

Plus, I'd like to see the "Whites of Their Eyes" before they see mine. ;)
