I must be mistaken... I thought our deficit was at $10.7 trillion? Is this a different deficit?

The DEBT is the accumulated annual deficits PLUS unpaid interest.

$10.7 trillion is the Federal debt. We have the total Federal debt, which is the total owed, and there is also the budget deficit. When they refer to the budget deficit they are referring to what the government is overspending in a given year. Meaning, for example, revenues are $3 trillion but we spend $3.5 trillion that would be a budget deficit.

The $10.7 trillion, as you probably already know, doesn't include commitments made under Social Security, Medicare, wars, etc. So the total is much higher.

He has four more years to accomplish this task. It will be a challenge to do so in the downturn of the economy. You can count this year out unless they plan to magically fund the stimulus+bailouts.

Sure did, it would have been 5 Trillion but us DNC folks made sure we cut it in have so we R ony spended 4 Trillion this year.

Good Job. I'll sign it right away along with a 1 Trillion dollar Emergency Spending Bill we want.
