How is it possible that gold AND the dollar are going up in value at the same time? can anyone explain?

Some of that is from Ben's slip about the possibility of nationalising the banks, as well.

Two words: Regime uncertainty. It's what typically keeps private investments out of 3rd world countries, keeping poor people poor. It adds a tremendous amount of risk to your business calculations.

Good luck. :p

Added another 2000 oz back when it was $9

THAT was SUPER cheap silver. :D

Also if you play the markets at all let me share a favorite stock of mine.
SLW Silver Wheaton

It has been constantly bouncing between 6.60 and 7.40

In and out... ching ching... in and out.... ching ching.

Today I sold a position at 7.25 because I thought it was going down... last time I looked it was hovering at 7.50 :(

Guess I jumped the gun too quick today.

SILVER BABY!

I would hardly say it's crashing. You can expect a bear rally soon....nothing goes down in straight lines ;)

Some of you think the apocalypse of our financial system will happen in the blink of an eye

Looks like Peter Schiff's prediction that the Dow will be worth 7.00 ounces of gold will come true very soon...next year he predicts that the Dow will be worth 5 ounces of gold...and by the time Obama leaves office the Dow will be worth 1 ounce of gold.

Can someone explain this to me? Are you saying you can buy the entire DJI for 7.28 ounces of gold?

Not really. As terrible as the government and its policies are I don't think this is the end. I see a bottom in 2011 at around 600-650 on the S&P...so I'll be buying in a couple years ;)

I made money on gold, and I made money on the way up and on the way down with the markets. It's not the end, we aren't going to zero, it's not the apocalypse. Yes, our policies are horrible. Yes, things are bad, but down the line there will be some great opportunities.

The sum of one share from each the companies in the DJI is worth x ounces of gold.

You find this by taking the the DJI and dividing it by the current rate for gold.

I don't think this time around...I happen to believe in the theory of cycles...so probably around 2030-ish it'll be worth 1 ounce.

There are always opportunities. I think there will be changes by then and there won't be an S&P just maybe some other global index.
Guess at this point it is all up in the air as this scenario has never been seen.

stay smart, hope for the best plan for the worst.

lol....like I said, everything we do is terrible but this isn't the end. No doubt we are going lower...and quite a bit, but not to zero....according to 51.6 year cycles....that will happen around 2037 ish ;)

where do you guys buy gold?

Go to apmex.com and see what their prices are. Then call local coin shops and see if they can beat it.
