Put me down on the record for urging people to get active in their local parties NOW (go to the boring meetings, help stamp envelopes, work with them to write letters to the editor, etc.) to get yourselves better known and established.

If by chance they happen to nominate a good candidate, give it your all. Step up to the plate and run for office yourself working WITH the local party when possible.

Learn the rules and play the game if you want to win. And no, voting in online polls doesn't count. ;) The rules vary greatly by state: discount advice from those (even with "Dr." in their screenname) who claim one-size-fits-all knowledge of the process. Learn both the national and state rules.

The national convention that just ended last year adopted by-laws that set the national set of rules (in addition to the state ones) for 2012.

Become local experts in your state to prepare for next time. Start here:

RULE NO. 12
Call of Next Convention .....................................14
MARK YOUR CALENDAR: "The Republican National Committee shall issue the call for the next national convention to nominate candidates for President of the United States and Vice President of the United States prior to January 1 of the year in which the national convention is to be held."

RULE NO. 13
Membership in Convention.................................14

RULE NO. 14
Participation in the Delegate Selection Process........................................... .....17
"(c) Unless otherwise provided by the laws of in which the election occurs, in those states where delegates and alternate delegates are elected through the convention system or a combination of convention and primary systems, the precinct, ward, township, or county meetings shall be open meetings and all citizens who are qualified shall be urged to participate.
(d) Each state shall endeavor to have equal representation of men and women in its delegation to the Republican National Convention."

RULE NO. 15
Election, Selection, Allocation, or Binding of Delegates and Alternate Delegates.....................18
LOTS OF IMPORTANT INFORMATION IN THIS SECTION.

RULE NO. 16
Enforcement of Rules..........................................24

RULE NO. 17
Vacancies in a State Delegation..........................26

RULE NO. 18
Excess Delegates and Alternate Delegates.........27

Don't say I didn't try to prepare us. Listening to incompetents and people claiming they have tricks up their sleeves isn't going to help.

Learn the rules, play the game and beat them at it.

"If the individuals’ capacities and objectives are given, the only way the pattern of outcomes can be changed is by alteration of the rules. And changes in the rules, obversely, will alter the outcomes that emerge from any society of individuals."

Nice find.

But this is not the case. Changing the rules is not an option. Our choices are to play by the rules in order to beat them at the game, or sit on the sidelines and watch their nefarious agenda go down.

Yep. Join a party. Any party. Go to the meetings. Listen. Observe. Smile. Volunteer.
