I can't believe there are people who actually believe they hate us because of our "wealth and freedom".

This magazine represents the very worst of establishment neoconservative and pseudo-conservative thinking, so it's no surprise they are piling on in an anti-Paul message.

My (neocon) uncle called me this morning and asked me if Ron Paul was drunk.

He also thinks Ron Paul was being offensive or anti-American, and he also thinks Ron Paul is "out."

Be prepared for more attacks from the interventionist wing of the GOP, harping on the exchange between Ron and Giuliani, the flood gates are open.

Notice how these people repeat verbatim what they heard on TV.

I cannot for the life of me figure out why the GOP is allowing itself to implode as it is.

Surely to God they can see that the VAST majority of americans are sick to death of the neocon agenda and want us OUT of Iraq.

I was talking about this with my hubby at lunch...I'll start another thread rather than jack this one...

He probably is out, this is the republican base we are talking about, but at least his message is being heard.

good, more fuel for the fire.

I wouldn't call this good.

I'm not a believer in "all publicity is good publicity," this is the first major focus of attention Ron Paul has received so far, and it's negative. That's hard to wash off in politics.

My one openly Republican colleague (I live in California): "They really beat up on your boy!"

I: "I think he did fine."

I talked a bit about our options in Iraq, and how, though I initially supported the war, there just doesn't seem to be any end in sight. How our actions in the Middle East most definitely were the primary cause of 9/11, and how we should just pull our troops from around the world and use them to protect our borders and ports.

By the end of the conversation, he admitted that he didn't really like any of the GOP candidates, and pretty much agreed that we probably just have to face facts and make the hard decisions that need to be made in regard to the Middle East: pull out.

Republicans are what is known as the "silent majority"

Very few of them speak out, except when it really matters. And they are not stupid. They know damn well that Ron Told the truth.

With the text poll, look. The poll only gave one vote per phone number, no matter how many times you texted. There are just over 200 of us on this forum, thats only 200 votes, from here we could probably influence 2 or 3 people to vote for paul on that poll. Thats only 4-600 votes. ( I'm pulling these number out of my ass, I only voted once.) There were over 40,000 votes in that poll, and Dr. Paul came in second, It's not just us on the internet, I really think other people are seeing the light.

I certainly HOPE others are seeing the light. :)

Go figure.

I don't understand that logic. IF the RP supporters are really that organized, then they're a force to be reckoned with. The GOP is certainly capable of organizing phone banks to tip the scales, yet they scoff at internet support?

The Daily Kos implied that it's Democrats or Socialists that are tipping the scales in Dr Paul's favor. I'm not sure I understand that logic either, though.

Paul's going to be strong on polls because of sheer demographics. However, that ought to help him get his message out. I disagree that all the hubbub is bad. What would be bad would be no notice and no ripples, as with the first debate.

The scenario I see now is this.

First week:

Fox: "Treason! Hang him!" (Hannity, Coulter, and their ilk join in)
MSM: "Paul is now dead."
Dittoheads: "Hey. I like torture!"
Us: "Excuse me for telling the truth."

Second week:

MSM:"Paul's comments still making waves."
Other candidates: (rabble rabble rabble)
Dittoheads: "I've already forgotten who Paul is!"
Us: "Now let's discuss rationally what Paul said and who else has said it (9/11 Commission Report, etc)"

Third week:

MSM: "Paul seems to refuse to go away."
Fox: "It must be liberals. Or space aliens. Or liberal space aliens."
Dittoheads: "I like pie!"
Us: "Now that we've put forward what Paul said, let's talk about why, and how this should affect an intelligent plan for Iraq."

Every day that passes does two things -- it keeps the message out there, and it lets the initial fire die down so that the discussion can start.

Nobody said this was going to be easy. :D

Well according to the neocons and the MSM, the polls are meaningless because RP supporters are spamming them. Go figure.

On McCain's blog, he asked his supporters to spam the polls after the debate. Obviously, that didn't help him much. 1st tier candidate? Yeah right!

Haha, asking your supporters to vote is not cheating.

Dr.Paul's eCampaign manager asked the same here: http://ronpaul2008.typepad.com/ron_paul_2008/2007/05/your_help_reque.html

The post said McCain asked his supporters to SPAM the voting.

That IS cheating.

I voted once and only once.

Did Dr. Paul ask us to SPAM the voting or did he ask us just to vote?

That's the difference.:)

Why Hasn't Rudy Giuliani Read...

Why Hasn’t Rudy Giuliani Read the 9-11 Commission Report?

May 16, 2007

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ARLINGTON, VA – During the "First in the South" GOP debate in South Carolina last night, one thing was made clear: Rudy Giuliani does not understand how to keep America safe.

When Congressman Ron Paul, who has long served on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, explained how 50 years of American interventionism in the Middle East has helped compromise our national security, Giuliani interrupted saying he had "never heard anything so absurd." This statement is particularly troubling coming from the former mayor who tries to cast himself as a security expert, since Dr. Paul's point comes directly from the bi-partisan 9-11 Commission Report.

"Rudy Giuliani has tip-toed around the issues of abortion, guns and marriage. The only issue he has left is security, and he doesn't even get that right," said campaign chairman Kent Snyder. "It is clear from his interruption that former Mayor Giuliani has not read the 9-11 Commission Report and has no clue on how to keep America safe."

He probably is out, this is the republican base we are talking about, but at least his message is being heard.

This is critically important to understand. This is not about electing Ron Paul, it's about educating the people.

"More power to the people, more people to the power" - Funkadelic.

Educate, and everything else will fall into place without any shots being fired.

Do that which consists in taking no action - Lao Tzu. Paraphrasing, but you get the idea.

A politician, a good one, should be an educator first. I think that's how RP sees himself. Keep on keepin' on!
