AN ACT
relating to certain ballot access requirements.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Section 142.007, Election Code, is amended to
read as follows:
Sec. 142.007. NUMBER OF PETITION SIGNATURES REQUIRED. The
minimum number of signatures that must appear on a candidate's
petition is:
(1) 500, for a statewide office


even if you don't live in Texas you should email a legislature anyway..


this bill would greatly open up Texas elections to 3rd parties and independents like never before

Just as important there is a bill out there to eliminate straight party voting. Ballot Access News has covered both lately.

I smell something funny here, 500 is way to low. Looks like a way to drown out 3rd parties.:mad:
