Apparently reading the forums and acting on my political advice....Gregg has withdrawn his nomination for commerce secretary.

“However, it has become apparent during this process that this will not work for me as I have found that on issues such as the stimulus package and the Census there are irresolvable conflicts for me...

Ya think?

From the statement:

I greatly admire President Obama and know our country will benefit from his leadership

How does he "know" this? Obviously he doesn't think the country will benefit if the differences he has with the administration are so substanial that he can't accept the position. Just another lying/idiot politician if you ask me.

And exactly what would he gain by not being polite? Remember we aren't the majority party, and we need center Democrats to swing our way if we don't want Obama to just pass everything his heart desires.

The glaring contradiction between his actions and his words is what gets me. I see it all of the time with this kind of thing and I find it aggravating. He could've been polite without being subservient.

Better his words lie than his actions.

True.

Gregg has a mixed record in the Senate, better than most. However, his vote for the AWB means he'll never get my support.
