Starting to pop up in the neoconservative blogosphere... anyone worried? I know what Ron Paul meant. But if "CIA refers to it as blowback" becomes "He blames America!" and calling for an end to imperialism means isolationism, they're going to have a lot of fun with the mall security guard remark...

Just check the blogs. Ron Paul sez Mall Security Guards can do job better than Marines and so forth. I see through it of course, but I think others could spin this in very harmful ways.

Yeah, that could definitely be bad for the campaign. But I think he can elaborate on it and explain it better.

Do you guys think we should all work on a good comeback ourselves in the meantime? We're going to need to counter these comments.

The faux wanker John Gibson got stuck into Ron today on his radio show. Might want to listen to the Dr.'s response. There was a thread about it on the forum somewhere.

He never said that! I listened to that interview. The radio show host suggested that! Not Ron Paul! Ron said we have security guards to keep on the look out for suspicious things he was not implying their better than marines. He said security guards do a good job.
In reality would marines be stationed in a mall strolling around keeping a look out for terrohohohust? NO! that was the question dick head radio show host asked.

The Marines can lay down cover fire when granny gets caught shoplifting dogfood to eat. Then Sgt Rock can toss a shock grenade down the petfood aisle to render her confused and disabled. Then his squad can jump her and hood and ankle chain her whilst tightening the wrist ties and then slam her in an orange jumpsuit. She can then be taught via electrodes and stress positions to comply with Marines orders immediately.
Hell yeah.. Mall security guards are much better folks to deal wth the dog food stealing grranny.

Response: (Question)
So is it better for you to pay taxes to support putting Marines with fully automatic
weapons strolling through the shopping mall as done in police state 3rd world
countries or would you rather have the mall owners provide their own security?
Having a guy wandering the walkways kitted up for action as if the firefight is
only seconds away rather makes me want to shop somewhere else...

right now there are many laws preventing security guards from confronting people violating their property rights, or the property rights of their clients.
a lot of them exist in civil common law, but still, anyone who has worked as one knows the government ties your hands so badly that you can't do much if a criminal makes a move other than call the cops.
that needs to be changed.

Of course; it was a ridicuously slanted question. But I don't think the opposition will see it that way.

Yea, this should really be an issue about the growing domestic militarism as
EXPATRIOT's post brought up. the military is the wrong answer [.] why are we patrolling markets and things of that nature w/ tanks and machine guns.... and then we expect the Iraq's to just continue on w/ their lives in spite of it.
pi * palestine^2 = Iraq
the square root of Iraq * 1/pi = Iran

Marines= Kill Stuff Break Things.
Security Guards= Keep things from being Killed, Prevent things from being broken.
Republicans understood that in Kosovo... why not now?
