4 Military canook helicopters just flew low over Evanston (Chicago suburbs)

Has anyone else seen this happen before in their city? My entire house was shaking from them flying so low and the noise was unbelievable. They were pretty ominous looking when me and my friend ran outside to check it out and saw 4 of them in a close formation flying very low. I've never seen something like this before in my city does anyone have any clue what this could be? I've lived here over ten years and I've never seen anything like this before.

Haha, I'm not scared.. I'm mad. That's the first time they were bold enough to do that in my town. Everything I've been fighting for just became a little more real. They probably scared a lot of people but they should be much more worried of who they piss off.

Since you have stated that its a are near Chicago I would put the chances at abut 95% that Obama is coming to town in the next week or two. They always have chinooks there ahead of time doing much of the pre-trip things.

i hear you:) i lived in va beach and norfolk va most of my life so seeing them doesn't bother me,but it still can be unnerving to anyone on the ground when planes or helicopters fly low to the ground!! not a common event for most citizens.

I saw these twice today, once in lincoln park... first assumption was that Obama was coming to town.

Second time I saw them fly right by my friends apartment at about 1000 feet altitude immediately west of city... looked exactly like the one that lands behind white house.

I grew up 15-20 minutes away from the second(?) largest army helicopter base in the U.S. Now I live about 2 hours from it, but If I were to see a military helicopter out here I may take notice but I wouldn't think much of it. I'm just use to seeing them.

If you see them on a daily basis and there are no bases nearby, well then I'd start to think a little more of it.

They're just old transport helicopters. The Army has hundreds of them at active duty and guard bases around the country.

I wouldn't panic just yet, lol.

There are usually requlations that prohibit that kind of flying over resedential/commercial areas, i know for us (Washington National Guard) you cannot fly below a certain elevation over certain areas. you should check it out. who knows, they might recieve an ass-chewing when they get back.
