What's Ron Paul Up To?
It's an economic crisis he largely predicted -- so what's former presidential candidate / Rep. Ron Paul up to these days? He's thinking about the long-term. His campaign for Liberty will start training activists at eight regional summits this year while it continues to urge followers to work against the stimulus and bailout measures in Congress.
More than 500 activists are expected to attend the first summit in St. Louis from March 25 to 27. The second summit is scheduled for April in Jacksonville and a third tentatively set for Seattle. Campaign for Liberty's Senior Vice President Jesse Benton said five more summits will be held if the first three are successful.

Paul will attend the St. Louis summit, as well as Andrew Napolitano, a Fox News legal analyst and former New Jersey Supreme Court justice, and Tom Woods, best-selling author of the "Politically Incorrect Guide to American History."

Benton said the summits will educate activists on the principles of the Constitution and train them in how to influence politics, from organizing, educating, lobbying and running for office. Already activists are getting involved in running for Republican Party leadership races in different states, Benton said.

The campaign is already fighting against the growth of government by urging hundreds of thousands of supporters to write and call Congress to oppose the stimulus package. Benton said the organization has experienced a bump in interest since the original bailout was debated last September, but that Paul's supporters have been loyal for a long time.

"I think that people who have been with us have been with us in large part," he said, adding that the campaign is re-recruiting Paul's supporters from the presidential campaign.

Benton said the campaign regularly communicates with 115,000 people and has a total roster of 500,000.http://politics.theatlantic.com/2009/02/whats_ron_paul_up_to.php

Well I must congratulate the CFL for this. This seems to be a good idea in the making. I hope it is more successful than our wildest dreams.

My idea on how to promote these locally?

They should spend some money to advertise it in the area if they want to get some bigger turnout.

Build it up as a mini Rally for the Republic...as someone stated in another thread

But if you advertise it like we did for the RFR, folks will come. St. Louis is actually an excellent location. Remember all the Ron Paul Rallies... they always faired well... I think the same can be true for these meetings... It's a chance for R3volutioners to gather and learn from the Best Leader in our Lifetime.

it's up to the people in the c4l and meetup groups to advterise this. Send local media press releases about this and letters to the editors. Also, call in to talk radio and use the "talking points" from the c4l site!

If you want your idea to be heard by C4L, please tell them directly.

If you want your idea to be heard by C4L, please tell them directly.Ha. Somehow I doub't they'd listen. Besides Mrs. Hopper never replied back to me regarding the CFL-FL situation and what rule Nick Egoroff broke which caused him to get banned.

Upon further reflection, I wonder if this is why they arbitrarily banned fellow patriot Nick Egoroff* (Orlando Meetup Leader + CFL County Coordinator)?

Perhaps they didn't want any dissent at the rally? They know that Nick has a large following in Florida and is unhappy with the way the CFL has handled a few things. They also know that Nick is VERY good at "mustering the troops" and gaining support (hell, he almost took over the Orlando GOP but lost by 1 single vote 122-121). My guess is that the CFL leadership wanted to minimize friction so they simply eliminate one side of the equation. Again I'm guessing that they wouldn't want anyone "causing trouble" by possibly "questioning their leadership".

I don't have any proof, however that's a logical conclusion in light of their recent actions, right?

According to one of your posts Egoroff did not run for chair. And according to a link you posted someone commented on how badly Egoroff finished it treasurer race.

Yes let's tell the inside account. In the chairman's race the Guetzloe half of the contingent and the Nick Egoroff 1/2 of the coalition stuck together. Thereby making the vote for county chair close. After the results were announced the Guetzloe and Egoroff coalition began to fall apart. In the three person race for vice chair none of the three candidates was able to garner the 50% vote that was needed. This despite a number of people that supported Lew Oliver having to leave. In the run off the current vice chair was reelected. The real telling races were for treasurer and secretary. In the treasurer race Egoroff received the lowest number of votes of any candidate who's name was placed in nomination. And he did not help his cause any when instead of promoting his reason for running for the office of treasurer his speach was a negative attack of Lew Oliver. Well it was to be expected. A more negative individual I have never met. In his race Egoroff received 72 votes. Now for the secretary race. The Guetzloe/Egoroff coalition candidate received 90 votes which was eighteen votes more than what Egoroff got. Since the vote for secretary was after the vote for treasurer it shows that Egoroff managed to turn off 18 members of the coalition that he and Guetzloe had build.

Let's not make this forum about Egoroff again.

Let's not make this forum about Egoroff again.I wasn't there, I don't know. And you should've posted this information elsewhere in a thread more relevant to the OREC situation. My issue here is that I think Nick was booted from the CFL (what rules did he break?) because the CFL leadership didn't want him at the Jax CFL event. I don't know if this is true but that's what my gut tells me.
