1/16/2009 Citizens & Northern Corporation Wellsboro Pa. $26,440,000
I'm sick to my stomache over this.
How on earth do I find out what they are doing with it?

I just found this on their website
https://www.cnbankpa.com/shareholder_info/press_releases/jan09/CN_Insures_for_Its_Future.php
here's my favorite part:
"While there has been much misinformation spread by the media and by some in Congress about the CPP, the program will provide community banks, like C&N, with the capital to assure their ability to do what they do best: lend and invest in the people and communities they serve.
In short, C&N is open for business as usual and loans are available to all qualified borrowers in our market area."

Capital One Financial Corp. McLean Va. $3,555,199,000
I called them about it. I was told they were using the money to buy up smaller banks. You know.... THE SOLVENT ONES.
I switched banks.

I don't see any credit unions on that list. Gee, maybe credit unions could have taken the place of banks when the banks failed.

GOOD FOR YOU! I don't bank there. I use a credit union. I've told a lot of people though and they are switching.

Well, I see that Suntrust is on that list. So much for "live solid, bank solid™". Looks like I'm going to close out my account with them (I'm taking out the last $23.80, boo-yah! :p)
I've been a member of a credit union with a savings account for a while now, and it looks like I'll have to open up a checking account with them as well.
