What do you guys think of the Louisiana governor? He seems genuine, a young and energetic guy who has a concrete understanding of what the Republican Party should be. He would look good next to Ron Paul.

Based on what I read, Sanford is the de facto pick for 2012 if Ron Paul isn't running for the GOP's presidential nomination again.

from everything I can gather about the guy he is a standard moderate like John McCain.

no interest in ending the FED, the Drug War.. no interest in being a real fiscal conservative.

but I would welcome a different opinion if its there to give.

Until you bring in the fact that he voted "yes" on the PATRIOT Act, Military Commissions Act of 2006, and voted with Republicans as a whole 97 percent of the time.

Gary Johnson is the pick according to my poll.

NeoCon puppet to the extreme. In order to get him to veto the largest legislative payraise in US history(very early into office). We organized a recall effort. He buckled and vetoed it.

Interesting, I did not know much about him or research him. I have just been hearing some things from fellow Republicans and wanted to know what everyone thought. Hearing some things said here and looking a little more in depth, I can see him being questionable as having any libertarian positions

I think he will be a leading contender for the GOP nomination. Though he is far from a Ron Paul Republican I think at this point, the best strategy would be to see how far he is willing to move to the libertarian wing to garner our votes. Last year there was a chasm between RP and the other Republican candidates, it can't hurt to close that gap, not by sacrificing the hardline positions of a RP, Johnson, or Sanford, but by moving the other candidates towards us.

No, he doesn't have many libertarian positions, but he is MUCH better than Blanco. And, our state is doing REALLY well under him, so..

Well, considering he is a Republican that's hardly surprising. I am a Sanford supporter.

Louisiana says no to jindal on the grounds of neoconism.

Texas also says no to jindal on the grounds of neoconism. And the fact he isn't President Ron Paul, who is far superior because he is a Texan.

You're kidding, right? He's pro Real ID, pro Patriot Act, pro war, pro torture, pro Military Commissions Act, pro spying on U.S. citizens, pro Federal Reserve, pro Income Tax, etc. He's a neocon suck up and asshole extroidinaire. The filthiest creep imaginable. The exact opposite of Ron Paul.

Sanford will dupe you all. Ever hear of Bush campaigning on a humble foreign policy.

He is part of the GOP machine.
