For one of my college classes we will get to bring in, and discuss one of our favorite speeches. What would the best Ron Paul speech be in each of your opinions? What is the website for a listing of speeches?

Great question!

I would say the two best places to start are the youtube search engine(just type Ron Paul Speech and you'll have a few dozen great ones) and Ron Paul's book "A Foreign Policy of Freedom"-which is a collection of his House speeches on foreign policy. I don't know if it would count for your class, but his answers during the republican debates are great(in a very limited amount of time he won over a very large amount of supporters). His speech in Philly on Veteran's Day before the election season started was great as well(I believe that's the one where he pulled out the quote, "No army can stop an idea whose time has come).

Hope that helps get you started. For me personally, My favorite Ron Paul speech was the one I attended at Gettysburg College-it was great to see him "own" the room in person which is what put that over the top for me, not necessarily anything out of the ordinary that he said there.

That one he did at the Taft club was good--you know, I like all his speeches. Couldn't sale vinyl siding but is certainly the genuine 'real deal' talking about what's actually wrong--he is guarded in what he says. I hope he writes his memoirs in a tell-all fashion...

This is a great speech! " I do believe that if the Democrats and the Republicans played more baseball and legislated a lot less, the country would be much better off. I am convinced the annual baseball game played by the Republicans and the Democrats must be considered one of the most productive events in which the Members of Congress participate."

So true, Ron! ;):D

His Iowa Straw poll speech, by far his best ever, he is fired up. If you do not know which one I mean go listen, you will remember by you love this man.

That quote: "We've allowed our nation to over taxed, over regulated and over run by bureaucrats, the founders would be ashamed with us for what we're putting up with."

Dude, I just found an amazing speech in "A Foreign Policy of Freedom":

"Congress Relinquishing the Power to Wage War"

Here's a snippet; I could swear this was written yesterday.

"Madam Speaker, all Members should be concerned about the war powers now illegitimately assumed by the president, the financial bubble that will play havoc with the standard of living of most Americans when it bursts, and the systemic undermining of our privacy even in this age of relative contentment."

Recite that, and then tell them Ron Paul said that on February 2, 1999! :D

"Recent flagrant abuse of the power to wage war by modern-day presidents--including the most recent episodes in Iraq, Afghanistan and Sudan--should prompt this Congress to revisit this entire issue of war powers."
