I haven't really noticed a difference yet, and i bought a FSC pack of smokes today. The speed bumps are not readily visible to the naked eye it appears. I just wonder how much of a price hike we are going to see because of the nannystatism bullshit.

Look for this marking on your cigarettes

Here is a pic of the technology being implemented.

PS.

Notice one of the only states that hasnt bought into this shit is missouri, where smokes are still 3 bucks a pack. They must have some great lobbyist up there, beautiful state too.

Smokers are losers. The revolution is coming. When the government comes for you you will need all the strength and stamina you can muster. You should kick the habit and start training NOW! :)

Why persecute smokers? I've known a lot of them, and only a few are losers. :)

I'm sure the paper bands are just for show.

I remember one time I worked for a plumber and he had me put this toxic fire caulk all around the holes in the floor where the pipes poked through so the fire couldn't get out.

Anyways....

I remember when I still smoked and these came out. It was over a year ago in CA. It pissed me off! I wondered if the lighter companies lobbied to get this passed? I quit soon after, for my own health:)

From what I hear, the big tobacco companies love it. It makes the barrier to entry that much higher. I agree with what JenniF00F00 said, roll your own.

I don't smoke cigs, but I have thought about trying to grow tobacco for my friends who do smoke.

Absolutely. When SHTF cigarettes & alcohol may be as good as gold in a barter society. :)

Please try to leave out the collectivist insults. They do nothing but cause flames on the forums.

Thanks.

My state has been doing this for about 2 years but most of us were oblivious to the fact. Although I quit smoking last spring, here's what I had observed:

I began to notice that the time it took to smoke one cigarette seemed to decrease! I was used to a cigarette lasting about 6-7 minutes and now they weren't even lasting 5! They would indeed go out if you set it in an ashtray long enough to unscrew a lightbulb and replace it. Other smokers agreed. I mentioned this to a guy I know who runs some sort of "smoking cessation" group, and he said people in the group were puzzling over the same observation.

I think, the heavier paper forces you to draw harder in order to get the normal "dose". So you're forced to smoke harder, inhaling more crap, more quickly, thus burning up the cigarette faster. I'd guess they've been tested for burnability but not for increased poison.

Of course this is just my theory, but what organization will bother to test for this when smokers are considered thoroughly unworthy of any consideration?

(Jan 20 was the absolute worst, hardest day to be a non-smoker!)

now we just need the "slow drinking alcohol" that cuts off after sitting for 6 minutes unless the drinker drinks it before the time expires.
