The reports I've read said that Tonga showed up with 1 boat filled with a dozen, maybe more, "soldiers" (looked more like prisoners in a workgang supposedly) and a small band. They planted the Tongan flag, played the national anthem, and then sailed back to Tonga.

More recently, the Minervan Commission has been, in exile, carrying on the official affairs of the Principality of Minerva.

What the Hell?

Why didn't the Minerva people bring guns to their new island to defend themselves? Those invading Tongans should have been run off at bayonet-point before they even had time to plant their flag.
