I don't believe he is. I believe that his fearlessness, bluntness, and libertarian slant has led him to become a trusted figure. His name recognition and respect in MSM has led him to be thought of as viable for a political office, though I disagree.

He was Ron Paul's Financial Adviser, and Ron Paul doesn't even need a financial adviser.

He also endorsed Ron Paul several times in his mainstream media interviews.

Idolized? Well people certainly express their appreciation, its nice to have someone in the MSM consistently arguing for capitalism and against socialism.

What is it that bothers you about Schiff? I wouldn't say I idolize him but I damned sure agree with what he says. I bought his book a year and a half ago and did most of what he suggested and I feel pretty ready for the coming collapse. He has been pretty right on with his predictions.

I actually think Peter Schiff often comes off as too abrasive in his interviews, and he's often interrupting other guests when they're talking. Admittedly, it must be annoying to deal with all that foolishness from the presstitutes and court economists, but I still wish he'd look better if he'd simmer a little. His analyses are very sharp though, and he's one of the most public figures presenting the Austrian (at least he appears to be Austrian; I don't know if he follows it specifically) point of view.

I'm a fan of Schiff's and I enjoy watching his youtubes, but I hardly idolize him like some others here.

He is too cocky, and over confident in his predictions. His investment advice really hasn't been that great, and many of his predictions were incorrect. He invested his clients money in foreign companies thinking the world economy was sound and only America's was weak. He was wrong. He recommended buying tons of gold predicting inflation, and then we got deflation instead of inflation. Of course the inflation could still be coming...

Because he's been damn right on the economy for years and remains steadfast in his views even if he's the only one that believes 'em.

The guy doesn't mince words, or sugar coat bad news. He's also right 90% of the time, which is impressive for someone in his profession.

He admittedly is abrasive and does like to interrupt, but I kind of like the fireiness. Today on Kudlow some hack was saying its good to print money during a deflationary cycle, and Schiff yelled "ITS JUST PAPER!"

End of message?

Why stop there?

I'm sure you could stuff a few more useless questions in.

Anyway, the man is not idolized. His defense of free market policies are. There are hardly ever people on financial shows who speak common sense. When there are, there is sure to be a thread linking to a video. It's mostly been Peter Schiff so far.

Do you agree with Schiff that the GATT Treaty is not relevant to our current economic condition, and therefore does not need to be part of the discussion on how we got here or what we do about it?

It's the Reckoning! for years Schiff has takened it on the chin, being called a kook, constantly interrupted when he tried to present his facts. Laughed at, ridiculed... well now, the man is having his Revenge on the Economic Morons.

The OP / title is group think- IMO you're best served by being more specific- what do you consider "idolized"? What is wrong with what has been said? You don't need to name user names but more detail is needed for any reasonable discussion.

See follow-up question posted above, which is quoted here:

He makes me laugh at things that aren't funny...and he is the maestro of the analogy. And he has fire in his belly which makes a change.
Idolize? People here are waaay too cynical for such behaviour. Recognizing a kindred spirit is far from idolatry...

The man is not idolized.

However, he is one of the few of the movement that has connections with the MSM.
