His campaign apparently has an auto dial message thing. I got a call tonight, but when I picked it up there was about 15 seconds of silence then it disconnected.

:D

edited to add: the caller ID identified him and I called the number back and it was a message at his campaign office.

I think you guys are right. He's taking a page from the Gravel book and letting me interpret the message anyway I choose.

That was Thompson's platform. He invites his supporters to project their values onto his campaign.

Fred will play any role you want!

Maybe he changed his mind and still hasn't decided to enter the race.

It happened again this morning. :) Their auto dialer apparently has issues. What a shame.

I work as a telemarketer for Dell (I know I know :( I'm a poor college student ) and we use an automatic dialer. It dials hundreds of numbers and when someone answers the phone, it will connect the call to someone in my office. Sometimes there can be a delay.

I understand that! But I said "Hello" very loudly to be sure the computer heard me. I picked up on the first ring, and I waited until it disconnected me...."If you'd like to make a call......"

Nope - it's messed up.

He is overbooking the system. It will call, say 100 numbers and expects about 30 people to actually answer. Since there is only 30 telemarketers, if more than the expect number of people pick up, it will hang up on the excess. Then it will try again later.
This kind of booking is actually illegal, so if someone wanted to sue, they could. Don't know what kind of luck you would get though.
