They'll have a transcript available tomorrow or the next day. You can just do a ctl-f for paul.

Edit: sorry it looks like they charge for transcripts.

I think it may have been an unscheduled call-in. Ron Paul spoke for about 5 minutes on Patreus and Iraq (1:35pm CDT).

Nothing much new. Ron stuck to his standby lines.

"Bad diagnosis to begin with so we shouldn't continue with it"

He said Patreus wasn't "lying" because maybe he's convinced himself that continuing is best. But Ron didn't shower Patreus with respect like many other Republicans did during the hearings.

Ron addressed McCain's phrase of "we can't surrender" by saying McCain was using words to manipulate the situation.

Overall, nothing new from Ron that we haven't heard before. But it was fairly good exposure as it was made very clear that he was the one Republican Presidential candidate speaking out against the war.

Personally, I think Ron should focus more on decisions he would be making as President in January 2009. This whole Iraq war debate and what to do will largely be sorted out by the time the next President takes over. Ron Paul could be less divisive if he differentiated himself with how he would handle future actions on foreign policy (Iran, al queda, etc.).
Pounding on what we should do right now in Iraq may or may not help him -- because there IS no easy answers. My 2 cents.

I agree that he needs to be talking about how HE would handle the situation and how HE thinks we should be providing national security, instead of just talking about what is wrong about what we are doing now. I'm not so much worried about the divisiveness, as I am that he needs to put forward HIS plan.

The only reason there aren't any easy answers is because people have allowed to situation to be twisted around into something it's not. We're not engaged in a war anymore, it's an occupation of a foreign country and an attempt to install a puppet government. Al Qaeda wouldn't be there if we never went and they won't be there for long if we leave. The whole terrorist network would jump the shark if we weren't in the middle east at all because the only people in it that would continue hating us on principle are the same ones who aren't willing to blow themselves up or risk themselves in any way. Hey, that reminds me of some other people.
