In an effort to bring some of the lifelong Republicans who believe that party leadership is always right, I'd like to make a fairly comprehensive list of reasons that a conservative should denounce our soon-to-be former president.
The list should be geared towards Republicans who are clinging to their support of Bush and other members of party leadership. Nothing too terribly complex - just a list of things that the President has done which have contradicted the party's platform or core beliefs.
I will start:
1) Expanding the power of the federal government to exempt detainees from the rights of due process. Even if we assume that Bush and GOP leadership has not abused these powers, they will remain in place for Obama and other future leaders to abuse.
2) Federal government interference in free markets. No part of fiscal conservatism would advocate spending $700 billion to pick winners and losers in our banking or automotive industries.
Add them as you please....
