I saw this reported on Al-Jazeera and pulled up the article. On Al-Jazeera the historians interviewed unfortunately mentioned FDR and Lincoln as being among "the greats" while saying Hoover "did nothing" and clung to old economic policies that led the country into the Great Depression. Sigh. But we can give them credit at least for identifying Dubya as the worst.

"In an informal survey of 109 professional historians conducted over a three-week period through the History News Network, 98.2 percent assessed the presidency of Mr. Bush to be a failure while 1.8 percent classified it as a success."

"Asked to rank the presidency of George W. Bush in comparison to those of the other 41 American presidents, more than 61 percent of the historians concluded that the current presidency is the worst in the nation’s history. Another 35 percent of the historians surveyed rated the Bush presidency in the 31st to 41st category, while only four of the 109 respondents ranked the current presidency as even among the top two-thirds of American administrations."

Lots of scathing words for Dubya within...

Another classified Bush as “an ideologue who got the nation into a totally unnecessary war, and has broken the Constitution more often than even Nixon. He is not a conservative, nor a Christian, just an immoral man . . . .” Still another remarked that Bush’s “denial of any personal responsibility can only be described as silly.”

“George Bush has combined mediocrity with malevolent policies and has thus seriously damaged the welfare and standing of the United States,” wrote one of the historians, echoing the assessments of many of his professional colleagues. “Bush does only two things well,” said one of the most distinguished historians. “He knows how to make the very rich very much richer, and he has an amazing talent for f**king up everything else he even approaches. His administration has been the most reckless, dangerous, irresponsible, mendacious, arrogant, self-righteous, incompetent, and deeply corrupt one in all of American history.”

These are the historians who come from the same ideology that places FDR and Lincoln at the top of the list. Dont buy into their propaganda.

Bush has been a light weight in comparison to many of the horrible presidents of the past. They had the long term effect of creating long term political philosophies. At least Bush has driven many people away from his idiotic policies.

These are also the same historians who in 50 years will rank Obama as the second coming of their hero FDR

Hear, hear! I agree 110%!

I've said it before and I'll say it again:

Bush is NO conservative and NO Christian!

Just another New World Order SOCIALIST LOSER!

I'd rate Bush and Clinton pretty much dead even as "worst ever".

Don't blame me, I voted for Chuck Baldwin! :D

I agree that most of them are liberal/leftist idiots, but the one who stated that Bush is no conservative and no Christian---ABSOLUTELY NAILED IT!

I've got to give it to the guy---the absolute truth is the absolute truth, regardless of who says it. And he spoke the absolute truth about Bush.

Sorry but I think FDR and Lincoln still trump Bush.

Bush is at the top of my list of incompetent Presidents.. and unfortunately Reagan (in his second term.. when he was suffering from Alzheimers) is there too. Oddly enough both were very outspoken about big government and globalism prior to their first terms and by their second terms were doing their best to make a big global government possible.

Like Bush, Reagan was a phony conservative from the get-go.

Reagan was an FDR Democrat for over the first fifty years of his life. Then all of a sudden he started spouting conservative rhetoric, joined the Republican party and got elected as Governor of California.

As Governor, Reagan presided over the largest increase in the size of state government in California history up to that time, paving the way for California to become the liberal lunatic asylum it is today.

He also signed into law the most draconian gun control bill in state history up to that time.

Torture boy deserves his head on the top of a list somewhere. Looking at all the cold war presidents though pick one who you feel would seem out of place on a worst presidents list.

Bush is pretty bad. I would rank him below FDR and Lincoln because he also blew up the US dollar. That means a lot of American corpses in the future.

Totally Agree. You can't really give these guys any weight when they put someone like FDR up on top.

At this point, I'd rather they rank FDR as the worst and Dubya as the best.
That way they might be more skeptical of Lord Obama Messiah's New Screw Deal.
