The reason the US hates Chavez is because he didn't accept IMF and World Bank loans like 99% of the rest of Latin America, and subsequently our companies can't get Venezuelan oil for next to nothing, or put military bases in their country.

This might set a precedent for other Latin American countries and unveil a chain of events that won't look good for either America or Israel. America knows its losing power in its backyard, Latin America, and they can't stand it so they're calling Venezuela a terrorist state. Pathetic!
