View Full Version : RNC Chairman Candidates' Debate 1/5

Dave
01-05-2009, 11:41 AM
The candidates debate for the position of RNC Chairman will be held today at 1:00 EST. They have an online poll to submit and vote on questions to be asked here:

http://www.rncdebate.org/index.php?sortby=question_score

The #1 question is:

"In light of the success of the Ron Paul presidential campaign attracting large numbers of young activists to the conservative cause, what specifically will you do to ensure they become Republicans? "

This question was submitted by Joe Seehusen. He has worked to drum up votes to get this question to the top and we did it! This was also featured on the CFL site.

Let's tune in (c-span) to see if they ask the #1 question and how the candidates respond!

They just took the questions down at the website! Before I refreshed, the RP one had 1161 votes and the next closest had about 490 or something. Does anyone still have the list?

Grover Norquist just said "we had hundreds of questions about getting rid of the Federal Reserve", then he proceeded to say "we will skip this because we all agree this is annoying".

WTF??????

This is so hilarious, considering they are all going on about "listening to new ideas", etc. What a joke.

This is awesome! They have had to realize that our numbers are so great they can't disrespect us.

This is what happens when we join together - there's strength in numbers. As we get more people to join Campaign For Liberty, our influence will grow!

Umm. Did the moderator just throw out the Federal Reserve question because he felt it was "annoying"? Or did he say that we can all agree that the federal reserve is "annoying"?

Then, they skip the Federal Reserve question and go to: how to bring more hispanics and other minorities into the Republican party . . .

I know. I think he meant the question was annoying, but he could have meant the Fed.

That's a mild way to put it. Might as well have said:

'I'm slightly perturbed that the Federal Reserve has put a small dent in our economy.'

I believe he was talking about the fed.

He said something like:

"We had a lot of questions asking how icky the federal reserve system is. We'll just agree that it's annoying"

I have to say, even though he was corrupt as hell when SOC of Ohio, Blackwell seems like the best one thus far. I'm sure it's all hot air though, just saying what we want to hear.

Why isn't there any RP type candidate running for this??

MRoCkEd

They all said they oppose(d) the bailout - I guess that's a good sign.

Blackwell seems the best of the lot, and it looks like he's gotten a lot of endorsements (http://kenblackwell.com/2009/01/conservative-leaders-endorse-ken-blackwell-for-rnc-chair/#comments).. hmm.. did the campaign for liberty endorse anyone? Are they involved in this in any way?

Being from Ohio, I am not overly fond of Ken Blackwell. I was not happy with his conduct regarding the acquisition of our voting machines. He did write a nice article a couple of weeks after the election which included this "These policies naturally flow from the basic Republican principles of limited government, economic opportunity and personal responsibility." If he can prove to me he really means it, I could support him.

Michael Steele was the only one I recall getting applause.

I was saddened that no one mentioned the Constitution :(

If Steele gets it you can forget about any RP influence. He is as big of a neocon as they come. Hell Hannity even endorsed him... that should tell you enough right there

Remember he was the one after the first debate saying "For me Ron Paul.. its done." Proclaiming that Ron Paul had no business being up there on stage.

The RP question doesn't come up until minute 46. I don't like how they all dismiss the true conservative Republican principals which made Ron Paul popular in the first place. Oh and the moderator not even bringing up the Fed question was lame. These guys need to take a clue from a real debate like Freedom Fest...

So who exactly are we supposed to be supporting? That poll website that was previously linked in this thread by Valli6 has Ron Paul's name in the description of Saul Anuzis, so should I vote for him?

Blackwell didn't really answer the Ron Paul question to my satisfaction, and felt a little alienated in his comment about the issue. So who should we all be getting behind?

We're the only primary supporters who've stuck around. You don't see Huckabee or Guiliani supporters active on the web, do you? Know why? Because nobody really cared about Huckabee or Guiliani.

None really answered the question to my liking, but I expected that. Then the comment about the fed being "icky" they said some some stupid little line. Good to know the idiots don't know what they're talking about. We can take over both parities, but we should focus on the Republican party though, they are weak.

It was a poor attempt indeed. This statement really clarifies what they think of our positions.

"We also had hundreds of votes for a series of questions on "How icky do you think the Federal Reserve system is?", we're going to stipulate for purposes of this debate that it's completely annoying."

They are complete fools at best though I think it more likely they are traitors simply trying to maintain their positions of power.

I lost track. Are we on the ballot box or jury box?

Gee Grover, didn't you hear all the "End the Fed" chants at the Ron Paul Rally you somehow got yourself invited to? I guess you left early.

By the way, anyone with your voice should not be making public speeches.

Norquist is a Beltway leech and the quicker he is thrown into the sewer the better.

Been a while since ive posted, mostly been keeping track of the movement via ronpaulforpresident2008 site. In the least they asked the Ron Paul question however I feel as if every word uttered at the debate was 100% lip service, they agreed in unison and disagreed in unison. I really don't know how much more the Republican Party can go on like this ignoring the elephant in the room. I'm almost saddened in a way but I'm starting to realize that the party will simply never change. They are simply going to have to continuously lose until this Nationalist Socialist agenda the party has positioned for itself is removed. I'm filled with doubt but I still pray for the future, maybe after enough time has gone by they just might become real conservatives again and with a miracle obey their duty of office to uphold the Constitution.

I'm just going to say that I find Ken Blackwell best. In part because I felt he was the only one who gave answers that he really thought, including his answer to the Ron Paul question. The rest of them were like, "Ron Paul's a nice guy. We like his supporters. All that we ask is that they vote for us regardless of whether or not they agree with us." Blackwell gave a real answer... kind of bland, but he wasn't pandering. And the rest of his answers were equally thoughtful, even if they weren't particularly deep. The rest of the crowd was just politicking.
